Yes; it's simply one of many sorts of specialized hammers and some are made with different materials. In the case of a copper hammer, the softer side is so that you can work copper without scratching or marring a surface, and also with a lesser chance of work hardening the copper.

I carry a small 50ml can around in my gym bag. I spray the sliding parts on the machines to keep them moving smoothly and get a few funny looks for my trouble. I also rub the barbell ends down and wherever the plates go as it makes loading and removing them much easier!

Probably not…the writing on the spanner has me a little dizzy.
