I am BAD, ain't I!

my workshop is a "fun" place to be for most of the year :)

i got into working on rally cars by accident a long time ago :) i've always loved going to see rally cars race and the car control skills of the drivers is unbelieveable :) a privateer run car was in for a pit stop and they couldn't work out what was wrong so i offered to lend them a hand in trying to sort it which we did and the rest as they say is history :)

like i said the only downside for me is having to spanner "normal" road cars just hate them - they're covered in all sorts of stuff generally not well looked after they rarely get a wash and a polish --- i mean for the thousands they spend on buying said car you would've thought that they'd at least look after it............

something i was told when growing up was "if you look after your stuff, it'll look after you" --- still rings true to this day :)

got to go and get more dog food today along with some more teddybears - for my dog - and some more towels cos it's properly hacking it down :(

yeah true, I keep mine clean(ish). But I really don't know enough about engines to make sure it's running right. So its never in the forefront of my mind until I hear a weird sound. I do about 3 hours driving a day to get to and from work, so I try to stay on top of it.

What type of rally cars do you play with I have an 05 Subaru STI and I'm rebuilding the motor from a forged internal short block up once i take the time off from work to do so. I still haven't decided if I want to do rally suspension or auto cross suspension on my car yet but am leaning towards autoX since there's a local auto cross club where I live and not an option for a rally club.

the cars started life as 2007 scooby impreza wrx sti's not much of the original car left though ;) it's been properly stripped and most of the bodywork is now glassfibre cos it's easy to replace after a shunt :)

as for engines - i'm still using the original scooby casings but i've rebuilt them using forge internals and am going to be decking this block when it's rebuilt - heads are in the machine shop at the mo being skimmed, gas flowed, ported and polished :) and i've got a new FMIC which is 50% bigger than standard so should help it stay colder for longer :)

interms of suspension systems - you need BC Racing coilovers -- that's what's on this scooby :) really easy to work on, easy to adjust on spares for them are really cheap too :) win win all round :) the rest of the chassis bracing is made up of summit racing parts :)

brakes are tarox 10pot fronts and 8pot rears with hel hoses :)

just finished washing the box down in my kitchen sink ready for rebuilding on my kitchen floor :) cooking is soooooo overrated ;)

auto cross or rally cross as it's better known is wicked fun :)

if you're gunna be rebuilding your car to compete then make sure you read the rules of the track first or you could end up spending a whole heap of money on it only to be told that the upgrades you've made are not allowed.........ho hum............

also anything and everything goes to rally cross events most guys just go for coilovers, strut braces, chassis braces, uprated brakes plus hoses, straight through exhaust, iridium plugs, magnacor leads and a major ECU tweek --- put your car on the dyno and get the curves sorted out you will notice the difference straight away :) the cleaner throttle pick up and amazing stopping power :)

you also gotta get a full set of toyo proxes R888 semi slicks :)

you'll be able to blow everything on the road into the weeds properly

If I join the auto cross club it's not really to compete its just for me to go have fun since I don't play on the streets anymore LOL.

Current mods are FMIC, Header, Catted DP (prevent boost creep since it had it with catless) 1 step colder iridium plugs, cat back, upgraded oil pick up, phenolic spacer for manifold, cold air intake with turbo hose, and a ignition booster pro tuned on an cob AP.

It was putting down 297whp and 315 foot pounds torque on 91 & 315 WHP with 345 torque on a combo of half race and half 91 gas thats before the phenolic spacer and turbo hose so I'm sure I'll pick up a few extra ponies.

Its just my daily driver that I can't wait to get back on the road.

Had a good morning…before I got to work...then...well....it changed

But before that I had time to do some 12 pieces of Brocade, Yoga, Xingyi Wuxing Stationary drills and Wu style stepping….

Wish I had more mornings like that

today is going to be a good day breakfast wasn't terrible, jack stayed quite today, the neighbors are not playing there terrible music, and going down to visit some friends this weekend (i hope we go down to the pizza place) actually we always go down to the pizza place (go down there so many times that were his favorite customers...)

other thing you really should be running your scooby on 98 or 99 ron super juice that'll give you a "free" performance boost on it's own - the plugs are you using grade 6 or grade 7 ?????

these rally scoobs are running extreme cold ngk grade 8 plugs :) the exhaust if you can afford one get an H&S system without a cat back makes soooo much difference not just cos of the scooby burble (i love listening to the burble :) ) intake mods -- take out the spotlights and run hoses from there into the airbox :) FMIC always the way to go and the bigger the better IMO :)

reliability wise - decking the block is a must do :) even if you don't skim, flow, port and polish the heads.

dyno time -- don't expect to get it right first go - it'll take a few goes to get it right, my own scoob runs a greddy e-manage system piggybacked onto the scooby ecu and with all my mods am running close to 520ponies :)

my own 1997 scooby awd turbo 2000 is pretty much a street legal race car LoL :)

"IT'S ALL ABOUT THE BURBLE :)"

I'm jut running the stock turbo till it goes then I will get a nice fast spooling turbo that will bring me up to the 400 WHP of course with bigger injectors and top feed fuel rails with composite TGV housing since I have side feed injection stock on my 05 STI that isn't optimal for tuning.

I have a pretty big FMIC since its a perrin and I'm running a borla UEL header with a perrin dual 2.25 tube to one muffler cat back that I believe is discontinued. The only cat I have is in the DP and the Down Pipe is a mad dad catted DP. Like i said I went catted DP to prevent the boost creep that I was getting at full throttle.

The short block is built by maxwell performance so its legit and I know ill do some pocket porting to clean up the heads and get a valve job done as well since they will be coming off during my rebuild.

I've got a whole list of stuff i want to do but am a broke father so allot those mods will be done later on lol.

know the financial feeling all too well unfortunately :( got a lot of my stuff as rejected parts or parts that were being upgraded so i got to keep all the old stuff :)

plus i got a lot of friends that want stuff doing so it's been a case of "i'll do this for you, if you'll do this for me"

i tend to use the same workshops everytime and that gets me "mates rates" on almost everything :)

will nice to hear how it goes :)

walked the dog, did some practice and got a few wierd looks --- well my dog was swimming in the canal whilst i was practising LoL :)

gotta sort out some dinner :( dog got sausages, beefburgers and sheeps internals for his dinner.............. :)
