Vary scary.

On a different note, lets not forget it is the weekend. Make of it what you will because it is always soooooo short. :)

TKD this morning. Tinker on the Vette this afternoon. Should be a good day. :)

Car shopping today. Thinking about another Subaru or a Toyota Supra. If it ends up being the Supra I'll be looking for mid 11 1/4 miles and relatively street able which shouldn't be too hard.

The only way you're going to see 11's is if you're watching me in the stang! lol

Oh boy..,. here we go...

It's a 99 Vette, so far it's got a Corsa catback (which sounds like ***, so I'm replacing it with one from SLP), cold air, MAF, throttlebody and intake. 6-speed. I think it's going to make an admirable replacement for my old TA. :)

What'd you do with the TA?

What'd you do with the TA?

Needed a new engine, after I spun a bearing (two, actually...). I didn't want to build another engine for it, because while it was a great car, I have always thought of the Corvette as THE car. So I sold it to a buddy who is putting a new 383 in it, and started hunting. Found the Vette, so here we go...

I'm not planning to build another 700HP monster engine though. I'm wanting to keep this one for the twisties. So bolt ons for the engine (although, really, a blower just bolts on, right?). Probably just the SLP exhaust along with what's already done. Beyond that I'll probably limit it to suspension tweaks.

Lol...I could do it the easy way and just buy a V8 I guess. The 7M will hold 6-ish with some work which should do 11's with some competent driving.

What year is your mustang? My buddy has a 78 Mustang II with a built 351

There's no replacement for displacement. True story.

Mustang II... :barf: :barf: :barf:

The replacement for displacement is technology.

Yes, it's a Pinto, he gets endless **** from me about that. It is brutally fast though.

Ive never been into drag racing, prefer rally, so chassis dynamics and weight were more important to me. But, I have a chance to get a good deal on a Supra so maybe a bit of street class drag racing would be fun.

That's STILL no replacement. That same technology works as well on an engine with more displacement.

I'll stick to engines with more displacement than a bottle of soda....

The question is how much power do you need? Any more than 400 or so becomes useless pretty fast for anything but drag racing. The fastest production sedan ever on the Nurburgring is a 4 cylinder Subaru. Chassis technology is really more important, my Impreza has adjustable subframes available so I can change the entire characteristic of the car

If I was going to build my ideal racecar two years ago, before Targa NL had a rule change, it'd have been a C4 Corvette because of the lenience that used to be given to older cars and because the C4 still isn't really outdated. Now that it's a more even footing there isn't anything to consider except a Subaru STI. It's been around for 20 years, yes but it was designed by a third party to be the top car in the WRC.
