Do you require people testing to verbally explain the techniques? Very informative for both sides.
Probably not. For two reasons:
- Verbal explanations cannot be done concurrently. These would have to be tested one at a time, instead of the group demonstrating at once. In a group of 10 people, it would take 5x as long to do verbal explanations than demonstrations. (10 people talking one at a time vs. 5 people demonstrating at once).
- In addition to the time requirements, this would have the added issue of the students being able to hear the answers that came before. For example, if Alice explains a V-Lock, then Billy heard Alice's explanation, and Charlie heard both of theirs. I could ask each student different questions, but now I can only quiz each student on 1/10th of the material (in a 10-person class). Or I could do private tests, which would become a time sink.
