right/left: economic/social

Flatlander

Grandmaster
I like to believe that I am socially left of center, but economically right of center in my political beliefs.

I find that this causes me conflict, because I can never fully agree with what any of the party mandates are.

Why must social and economic positions in politics never be separated?

It seems to me that there isn't a problem with right of center economics while supporting abortion, equality, social progamming, and being gay positive.

Why can no political party match my views on both economics and social issues?

I suspect you are probably more typical of most people then we are led to believe because the two big political parties, and those people who like to be in power and make the most political noise, tend to be extremists on either end. I think most people are in a very reasonable middle ground. The noisemakers are too far to the right or too far to the left, and neither is reasonable or healthy, in my opinion.

Because it is you in Canada and it is me in the Michigan, so we few should form and international party.

I've said exactly these same things. That's exactly how I think. I want to vote for a Republican economic/defense president and a Democrat social/intl. relations president most times. I am not a member of any political party, and this is a big part of the reason--I'm happy with half of the platforms of each.

Dude, we have to form a party. Would you mind moving to the States so we can get started?
