US Message Board -- US Message BoardDoes anybody know the political forum that Martial Talk tells people to go to if they wish to have political discussions?
Where I live, I hear "ain't never" every day.Technically you are correct, but it is an extremely awkward use of language. Many people, through poor command of proper grammar, use a double negative to mean a negative. So if you want to use it to mean a positive, you will create a lot of confusion in your discussions, even though you are technically correct and others are wrong. So don’t do it.
I guess you could say that it's not uncommon.Where I live, I hear "ain't never" every day.
That is a special place.US Message Board -- US Message BoardPolitical Discussion Forum
Special how? I have not actually gone to it - outside of checking to make sure it's still active before linking it.That is a special place.
Haha! That was the song at my senior class dance.I guess you could say that it's not uncommon.
I think the number of well-educated people who use double negatives often is not insignificant. But as the Pink Floyd song goes, "We don't need no education."
My suggestion is to keep it that way. I took a look around since the link was posted. Maybe a better way to say it, is that it's definitely not my idea of fun.Special how? I have not actually gone to it - outside of checking to make sure it's still active before linking it.
Ours was Comfortably Numb.Haha! That was the song at my senior class dance.
Obviously I went directly against your suggestion, and clicked on a random recent post. It's people arguing about whether or not homosexuality is a choice. I didn't know people were still debating that.My suggestion is to keep it that way. I took a look around since the link was posted. There was an old SNL skit where someone drank some milk and spit it out. "OH MAN! This milk has turned! It's awful. Here, you have to try it!"Obviously I went directly against your suggestion, and clicked on a random recent post. It's people arguing about whether or not homosexuality is a choice. It's what The Study used to be here, but less restrained.Special how? I have not actually gone to it - outside of checking to make sure it's still active before linking it.
And you know, I may be in the minority, but I do not miss the Study at all. I also looked at the Political Discussion today...I have no desire to joinIt's what The Study used to be here, but less restrained.
It definitely brought a lot of traffic. But it's easy to remember why we got rid of it.And you know, I may be in the minority, but I do not miss the Study at all. I also looked at the Political Discussion today...I have no desire to join
It's a horrible forum, as in full of horrible people saying terrible things.Special how? I have not actually gone to it - outside of checking to make sure it's still active before linking it.
How so, Steve? That is a special place.
It's pretty much totally unmoderated, so people feel comfortable being horrible. How so, Steve?
And that was why The Study went away... It was a shame, because we did have some good conversations there, but around the 2008 elections, the politics became a major problem. It's what The Study used to be here, but less restrained.
