Ever sense the first snow storm, my hips and knees have been hurting, after yesterday the hips were worse.... got out of a chair this evening, felt and move like I was 90. So I decided I needed to do something so I did my new and unimproved geezer yoga routine. I felt a little looser after that and then I decided to do an inversion, a shoulder stand. I had not done one in months.

All the pain in my hips and knees vanished while holding the shoulder stand. After wards it hutrt a bit, but nothing like it was.

I haven’t done any inversions in a while. Maybe I’ll do a routine tomorrow and see if it helps my right leg.

It sure as heck helped my hips and my left knee. I think I will be doing the Geezer Yoga with shoulder stand again tomorrow morning. I am just starting to feel the right hip beginning to hurt again, and I did expect that the pain would return, But I am hoping the more I do this the longer the pain stays away.

Ah I am intrigued... don't suppose you could please put any links or pics of this inversion?

It sounds like having the weight/support on the back of the head/shoulders while the legs kick straight up... ?

Been having pain in BOTH knees, and I honestly do not know why... not sure if my quads/hams/glutes are too tight and need releasing or whether I need to strengthen the muscles supporting the knee...

It just means being upside down.

This is the specific inversion mentioned - and my personal go-to.

Awesome, cheers. Fascinating reading up on this one, seems to be a go-to for many
It is. It's pretty common late in Yoga classes. I mostly practice the one you see on the right and transition through the other two. Yoga ascribes a lot of benefits to them - I just generally feel better if I do them occasionally.

Just be careful of your neck. Done wrong it is real easy to hurt your neck doing this.
Yes, make sure the pressure is on your shoulders - hence the English name "shoulder stand" - and that you properly support your lower back. Generally, the one on the right is easier to do without putting undue strain on your neck.

Did Geezer Yoga with a shoulder stand again this morning and the joints seem to be liking it.
Paying attention to the shoulder stand; at first I feel a slightly different pain that is a little bit sharper in my hips, then it seems to fade rather quickly and then there is no pain

Reminds me of a joke. Guy dies and ends up in hell. Devil takes the guy to a room, opens the door and he sees dozens of people all standing waist deep in liquid poo. The smell is horrible, but he notices everyone is drinking tea or coffee and chatting politely. Guy wades in, and one of the other inhabitants says, "hey, new guy. Want some tea?" "Sure," the guy replies, and then, "So, what's the deal? I thought this would be worse. I mean, it's bad, but it's not pitchfork for eternity bad." Then a bell rings, and the devil says, "Okay everyone. Break time is over. Back on your heads."

That joke runs the gambit from funny to disgusting..it can make you laugh, it can make you think, and it can make you gag...its a triple threat :D

Had enough of MT for the moment......between people getting way to sensitive and accusations against the wrong folks and self important Korean martial arts historians who do not train martial art or know anything about history..... enough already.....see you on the flip side
