Oh man.....


Sad story. 3 duck hunters went duck hunting. In a boat. Boat capsized, and the icepocalypse has hit this part of the country. Emergency alert went out for the missing hunters.

All 3 hunters were pulled out of the water by rescue. 2 dead, one rushed to hospital in unknown condition.

And then I read the comment "I hope there's not a serial killer on the loose with all these missing hunters!"

not a lot of sense out these days....I know hunting is special, but dang...dangerous temps, you stay home!

Actually my headdesk comment was more from the person wondering about serial killers when the hunters perished from their boat capsizing.

Not a time when I would be on the water. But not a time I would stay home either

Well, thinking about this hunting trip...was so not worth it....But then again, I 'talk' to folks who experience -40 degrees at this time...their idea of going out at this time is going to the barn, dressed like Randy from the movie, quickly toss hay and feed, make sure warm water is available, then retreat QUICKLY to the house. the single digits aren't too bad with appropriate clothing (even in forest puke)

But yeah...people watch too much TV...serial killers on every channel....

Much depends on how much you are moving, and how bad the winds are. A cold day with no wind can be relatively pleasant.

Movement to me is really important. Snowshoeing turns the body in to a human furnace, you heat up very quickly when expending that kind of energy. I have a friend who likes to ice fish, and I cannot understand how he does it. I would not be a happy camper if I were going out in bitter cold to sit on the ice. More power to him for doing so, but its not for me

Just heard on the news...
Prisoner escaped from a minimum security facility in Kentucky on Sunday. He turned himself in Monday to get out if the cold.

I've field trained a lot of people over the years. I've only had 2 that couldn't pass. Well I think I've met the 3rd. I feel bad for this kid. His problem is he's too innocent for lack of a better word. I don't think he's cut out for this
