kind of. It’s definitely not competent management. But competence and trust are completely different. I can be competent, and you can be competent, and I can still not trust you. We can also both be incompetent... or somewhere in between. And still I can not trust you as an employee. Lots of other possible reasons for that.

Also, very important to note that competence for the manager is competence AS a manager. Competence as an employee is as a technician. And the skill sets are not the same.
im not sure I understand what you mean by this. But sure.

It’s also possible that cop management and culture, being closer to a military organization, is not the same as white collar management.
I think it comes down to two causes: (lack of) trust, and insecurity. Now that I look at that, those might not be two reasons.

Not the same, but one might cause the other. But either could be caused by many other things as well. Correlation isnt necessarily causation.

That's what I was getting at. Insecure folks rarely have much trust in their areas of insecurity.

At my most recent job, the Director of Nursing, that promoted me into the Activities Director position was a micro manager. At first it didn't bother me too much, because I was brand new at it. Then after I was sent to school for certification of said position and had much more experience, she still tried to micromanage me. It got old very quickly.
After a year of her stressing me out, it finally came to the fact that I was the only person in the WHOLE freaking building with my certification, I knew what I was doing, let me do it.

Micromanaging is sometimes part of OCD.
don't keep you from getting cussed out though....

@AngryHobbit
I need some off the wall crazy recipes, where there is NO WAY they can be cooked at work!
And some good stuff for activities for 'housekeeper appreciation week'

I am thinking along the lines of dunking booth, pie in the face, etc.....
