Do you think Steven seagal is destroying Aikido?

- Mr Tissier, as a world-level reference on aikido, what do you think of Steven Segal's aikido?
- He's a good actor.
- It means that, as a martial artist he's not that... uh?
- Let's acknowledge his quality as an actor, and mine as a martial artist.

Which, for a diplomatic gentleman on a TV set, is the equivalent of a sliding tackle with both feet forward.

One can say many negative things about Seagal personally and with regard to his MA, but at least he's a good actor......No, wait. OK, add another negative thing. I hope at least his mother loves him.😍
He was always a gentleman around the ladies......

Oh wait.

(Which should hurt the reputation of martial arts more than anything)

This is cracking me up.

I'll be the buzzkill here. Seagal is a terrible actor, terrible martial artist, terrible musician, and awful human being.

Isn't he still hiding out in Russia from the Mob?

Is it the aikido throw very different in Tenshin Aikido than say mainstream aikido?

In training for most aikido styles you probably won’t full force clothesline someone for a throw like iriminage whereas that’s what tenshin is known for??

Tenshin aikido is tighter and uses more direct entering movements and also incorporates deflections.

Too much philosophical theory is usually not a good thing for combat effectiveness.
Aikido does set a limitation by its own principle.

In another thread, people talk about "center". If you worry about your own center, you will never be able to do this take down.

I don't believe any Aikido guy is willing to do this take down.
