Tyson vs Paul

Iā€™m always very suspicious of people who say they donā€™t watch TV. I have a couple of friends who claim no to watch TV, instead they do things like watch all that conspiracy stuff and have a very odd view of the world. I watch TV because itā€™s important to ā€˜know thy enemyā€™.

This fight will be interesting as it will go towards answering the question of whether age is a big factor in the martial arts. Admittedly Tyson was truly exceptional in his time and he probably still has those skills, but will it be enough to carry his body, incredible as it is despite being subjected to cannabis smoking, his 58 year old cerebral vessels, his age-diminished nervous system etc?

Iā€™m rooting for Tyson, not least to wipe that smug look off Paulā€™s face and his stupid beard (I hate beards) but also to see Tysonā€™s incredible skills.

Everyone thinks it's going to be a one-sided fight in Tyson's favor. But I think everyone is saying that because they want Tyson to win.

Truthfully, Tyson should not have accepted this fight. Because if he loses after the way he's being hyped up by the public, that's gonna be serious blow to his legacy. And his legacy has already taken enough blows as it is (he should have retired after the last fight with Holyfield). Again, he should not be doing this.

Should we go back to moustaches? I gotta pick my son up from school everyday. With the way moustaches look on me, I'd get jumped by the other dads.

I don't have a philosophical reason for not watching TV. I just don't find it interesting. I am discovering through my VA therapy for PTSD that it might be part of my hypervigilance; one cannot be absorbed into TV and be aware of one's surroundings. But I'm not sure. I will say that my choice to stop watching TV seems to coincide with my other PTSD symptoms becoming a major part of my life, so eh.

As to enemies, as you know I consider humanity to be mostly made of morons who could not pour urine out of a boot with the instructions printed on the bottom, so they're less the 'enemy' than the usual crowd of people who will eventually kill us all through stupidity.

I don't get into conspiracy stuff. It requires people to keep secrets and people don't do that; then of course there is the question of how, if it's a secret conspiracy, do the tinfoil hat crowd know all about it?

I know people care about those things, but I just don't. Too many other factors involved. "Any given Sunday" applies.

I like my beard. My wife doesn't like when I grow it long, and neither do I, but sometimes I do it to be antisocial. She also doesn't like me clean-shaven, and I agree with that as my face is stupid looking.

I agree that Paul seems smug, but he seems to be able to back it up so far. Ultimately though, none of it will affect the arc of my life and so I do not care.

There was another huge contest a bit like that with a similar ethos and that had an unexpected win šŸ˜‰

I donā€™t know why Tyson accepted this challenge, but he has and itā€™ll be interesting.

No. All facial hair (especially ginger beards) are abhorrent and indicative of slovenliness and barbarity. šŸ˜‘

Then your looking at the wrong programmes. Iā€™ve just watch a series about the solar system and despite me knowing everything, I was transfixed.

You canā€™t suspend disbelief? Me too, which is why I watch factual programmes and comedy panel shows.
But I'm not sure. I will say that my choice to stop watching TV seems to coincide with my other PTSD symptoms becoming a major part of my life, so eh.
I think TV can ground you and seeing others having issues and problems put your own into perspective.

ā€˜Mostlyā€™ suggests there are exceptions.

Themselves first which is why I have no real objections to them.

Absolutely! But they canā€™t see that.
I like my beard.
No you donā€™t šŸ˜‘
My wife doesn't like when I grow it long, and neither do I, but sometimes I do it to be antisocial.
Youā€™re an awkward man!
She also doesn't like me clean-shaven, and I agree with that as my face is stupid looking.
Oh in that case Iā€™d advice a big bushy beard and a hood.
I agree that Paul seems smug, but he seems to be able to back it up so far.
Indeedā€¦
Ultimately though, none of it will affect the arc of my life and so I do not care.
Neither does this forum, but you still post here like a spectre at the feast! šŸ˜‰

Why did Tyson slap him?
As I understand it they faced off a few times but during the final weigh in, Jake Paul actually bear crawls over to Tyson and popped up in his face. Which is probably not the smartest thing to do against a monster like Tyson. Like taunting a tiger.

Jake went on the act up as if Tyson's slap didn't phase him and played it up for the camera, but it was just a light slap, Tysons way of reminding Paul he was in the red zone.

Of all the people in this world I would never want to spook or upset, Mike Tyson is at the top of the list. Paul isn't just a social media moron, he's got some sort of death wish.

I'd watch it if I had netflix, put it on in the background and see what happens more out of curiosity than anything. I don't have netflix and this isn't worth spending money on so I won't be watching.

When is this happening? I guess I could google it. Iā€™m curious and if itā€™s on Netflix, I can watch it.

Nah Iā€™ll check the highlights in the morning but Iā€™m not staying awake until 4 am for a freak show fight thatā€™s more than likely scripted anyway

Looks like the main card starts at 5pm here in Washington state. Iā€™ll probably put it on while I cook dinner.

Anyone else going to be watching this?
Yes.

Paul is the favorite at -205.

Tyson earned the right to fight eight 2 min rounds with 14 oz gloves for around $20 million. There's potential for a second fight It doesn't change his legacy since he's 58. Tyson doesn't look at his life as a legacy...

Yes I saw that. Why did Tyson slap him?
Because, Paul stepped on his foot,

Mike Tyson said:
"I was in my socks and he had on shoes," Iron Mike said. "He stepped on my toe because he is a f--king a--hole. I wanted to think it happened by accident. But now I think it may have happened on purpose. I was in a lot of pain. I had to reciprocate."

Iā€™m very interested in the fight. I donā€™t have netflicks so I wonā€™t be watching.

I donā€™t care for Jake Paul. But when I saw he had a 10-1 record I looked it up.

Hoo boy. He looked high and low to fight people coming back from serious health issues, for people that hadnā€™t won a fight in years etc.

Then I looked up the fighters his opponents previously fought and defeated.

They had records of -
34-65-2
0-26-2
0-12
10-102-3

When you see draws on the records of fighters like this itā€™s usually because both fighters are so unskilled or over the hill itā€™s just easier to award them a draw.

And now, with that two tier level of boxing experience behind him, Jake Paulā€™s fighting Mike Tyson.
