Tyson vs Paul

When it's time to sit down and watch TV, the wife and I will be watching Part 2 of Cobra Kai Season 6. Just released today. That's the beauty of modern technology. You don't have to watch things when they air.

Y'know, honestly... No. I've never been interested in the "talking" parts of the fight build-up, not in boxing, not in MMA, anywhere. I in fact actively avoid it. I can watch a UFC card in 2 hours instead of the broadcast 6 because I fast-forward through all the talky bits, the entrances, all that extraneous stuff. When I watch pro wrestling, which I do sometimes, I skip the promos and angles. I just want to see the action.

So Jake Paul's antics simply don't move me because I haven't seen them. I know his name and I know he has lots of terrible tattoos because I saw that weigh-in picture, but that's it.

But watching a journeyman boxer fight an old and shopworn Mike Tyson just doesn't excite me. I'm already not the most ardent boxing fight anymore, and this does nothing to re-kindle the flame.

I'll check out the results tomorrow, and if it turns out to be something spectacular, I'll watch the fight (I have Netflix). But only the fight.

I will not be watching, but I will want to know who wins..... I know who hope wins.... decisively.... but I don't want to name names....all I will say is he use to be a heavy weight boxing champ

Side complaint about this - was listening to the news and they were talking about how netflix has this and some random football games. With football basketball and hockey (I don't watch baseball often so not sure there), they're each on different streaming services now. Some are on cable as well, but not all - I can only watch about a third of the only sports team in raleigh, on raleigh cable for instance. So to watch one sport you might need cable and two separate streaming services. To watch all sports, you need like 6.

And they've got "aggregate" streaming services that cost more. But those still don't have what are often considered exclusive or prime time games since those are exclusive to streaming services, so you still need to buy the streaming service along with it.

Yet these leagues wonder why people keep going to "Free streaming sites" to watch these games.

Adjusted for age, Tyson won. Mostly by humbling Jake Paul.

The whole card was great. Serrano was robbed. Barrios vs Ramos was one of the best fights I've ever witnessed.

That was a set up fight. Both of those asholes took the public for a ride. I havenā€™t seen that since DeLohya/Mayweather.

I should have known. What a disappointing sham.

What a lacklustre fight. Tyson lacked vigour and never really moved forward to attack like he used to. In the past, his tactic was to overwhelm his opponent, pushing him back, back, back then -KAPOWZEROONY! - uppercut to oblivion! But Tyson appeared detached from the action, keeping back and never getting in. Paul is just a big bloke with long armsā€¦that is currently his thing. Heā€™s a reasonable boxer but nothing special but itā€™s his size that takes him a long way.

I was pleasantly surprised with Paulā€™s humility and respect toward Tyson at the end of the fight. Despite his reputation for arrogance and insouciance, at the last ten second signal, Paul stopped, put down his guard and performed a bowed toward Tyson. Paul spent 90% of his winnerā€™s interview, praising Tyson šŸ„² Tyson seemed a bit bewildered during his interview.

I do wonder if Tysonā€™s brand might be damaged by this outcome. Iā€™m no longer going to order any Tyson-branded merchandise, after all.

My conclusion is that a big, younger opponent will defeat an older, smaller person. The oriental martial arts are based upon a lie!

I knew that was a possibility before the fight. I was going to post that it may be rigged but deleted it.

Why do you feel this way.
Mike stayed in the middle of the ring most of the time. Jake let him. Mike did not try to set traps. Mike would slip (defend) but not counter. Neither one tried to walk the other down and finish with a KO.

The corners don't know it's fixed. In the rest period before the 7th round, Jake's trainer says, "You stay on top of Mike. But then, you're in and out with Mike... Once you start him then go back, you reset and go right back on Mike! You can stop him champ,"

Adjusted for age, Tyson won.
That's fanboy talk.

Yes, we all know that Paul wouldn't have beaten a prime Tyson. Paul never said he could. But he was good enough to get those results with a 58 year old Tyson, when 99% of the rest of the world would've gotten slaughtered.

I look at it a little differently and have noted this for some time.

What is often not mentioned is that the older, smaller person is often in much better shape due to decades of martial practice coupled with experience. They often win out in a match against younger, less experienced opponents

For those wanting to see the fight:
It seems like Mike is favoring the leg with the knee wrap on it. The movement of his hip on the same side looks a little stiff.
Does anyone know what the wrap on the knee was for?"

Look at THIS! In an argument in just about any other subject, this guy would have been dismissed for his emotional stance on the matter and such stupid logic. But no... since we're talking about Mike Tyson, that doesn't apply. He gets 127 likes and no laugh reacts (at least not enough to show without clicking on it), which means that most people actually agree with taking such a stance.

Most people really are stupid.

That didnā€™t work for Tyson, the once greatest fighter in the world, so I stand by my conclusion!

We don't know that if the fight was fixed. Tyson wasn't there to KO Paul. He was there to get his $20 million. In the ring after the fight, Tyson was talking about a rematch or fighting Jake's brother Logan.

Because the conclusion wasnā€™t Noah Snyderā€™s favoured outcome, it mustā€™ve been rigged? Sounds like heā€™s following a famous reality show person/politician! šŸ˜†
