Managed to get my local store to special order this limited release ale from Dogfish Head Brewery. It's one of their Ancient Ales. The recipe was recreated from remains found in a clay pot in Jiahu, China, dated back 9,000 years ago. Literally, a taste of history. Looking forward to opening it this weekend!

Have you tried Buffalo Trace Bourbon? It's a smaller Kentucky distillery, comparable price to Jack Daniels, but much more complex and much better flavor.

seriously! I don't think I would WANT a 9000 year old recipe! <shudder> it's kind of like Garum....you don't really want to know what goes in it...just substitute it with Soy Sauce!

I'd also recommend their Dark Lord - brilliant ruby ale that one. Not so much for their Combined Harvester, not that it is bad, just not a favourite with me.
