I can't count how many times I've had beat up patients, usually drunk, look me right in the eye and say some variant of "I was just walking along minding my own business when all of a sudden, from out of nowhere..."

Really? Do we seem that stupid?

What do their hands look like? The condition of their hands may indicate if they had tried to defend themselves. Believe it or not, there are bullies who cruise bars just looking to pick fights with people who are just there for a good time; drunks make easy targets.

What do their hands look like? The condition of their hands may indicate if they had tried to defend themselves. Believe it or not, there are bullies who cruise bars just looking to pick fights with people who are just there for a good time; drunks make easy targets.

I am aware that it does happen that someone can be in the wrong place at the wrong time. That's the short version of how I lost an eye.

You'd have to meet the people I'm talking about. Victims are victims. The group of people I'm talking about are not vicitims. I even had one look me right in the eye and tell me that he didn't have any idea how he'd gotten stabbed. He had spent the evening at home, alone, went to bed, and when he woke up.... *BOOM* there was a hole in his back!

The truth was that he was beating his wife when her 10 year old daughter stabbed him.
