Found the video. My first thought was, "she was misquoted". I found a statement from here from 2002 complaining about the loss of 500,000 jobs under Dubya. But no, this is her actual words.

Her -exact- words are "Every month that we do not have an economic recovery package, 500 million Americans lose their jobs."

Glen Beck is having a field day with this. But, in case she's right, remember, if this bill isn't passed, if all that pork isn't distributed, 17.5 trillion people will lose their jobs by the end of 2011. There will be people on other planets that will lose their jobs because the United States congress, those damn Republicans, stood in the way.

Yes, Madam Speaker, it feels like almost twice the entire population are losing their jobs each month.
Of course, one has to wonder given her poor grasp of the facts whether SHE's part of this population and why media didn't make an issue of this when it happened.

The sad thing about this issue is, it costs Pelosi some of the respect she got from me for her stand against Prop 8.

In mid 1990s I held the following jobs (in the order that I let them take at the same time for about a year until I found one decent full-time job:

National Guard
Major Telecom Company - Data Entry
Hospital - IT Operations and Support
Grocery Store - Cashier

I thought it was funny when the president of the time claimed to have created so many jobs and my response was, "yeah, and I have had five of them." I think my wife and I had something like 7 W-2s attached to our 1040s one year.

I sure don't miss those work weeks!
