On Power

additions anyone?
You need to include:

All power are generated by

- bottom to up, back to front.
- either body rotation, or forward momentum.
- borrowing the counter force from the ground.
- body unification that all body parts move and stop at the same time.
- compressing and releasing.
- ...

If you include 'timing' and 'seeing subtle clues' I would include also 'set-up'. So you deliver all the power you can without (half) defence from the other side.

Your list is quite exhaustive. Hard to find something that is not already there in some way...

F=MA
Muscle increases the M but so does fat.
Muscle used properly increases the A
Muscle used improperly decreases the A

Then there is the issue that rigidity increases the transfer of F into the target rather than back to the striker...and muscle can be made rigid where as fat cannot... but it pretty much starts with, or comes down to, F=MA
Force is not enough. Force does Work. Causes (changes of) motion. It can be pushing. It can be a shallow impact.

Power = (Force * Displacement / Time). Or Work / Time. Or Energy / Time. Maximum Energy delivered in the shortest period. It is Power. And for the optimum efficiency, we need to go beyond Power, since different parts of the body respond differently to different kind of impacts.

And I am the one who prefers the empiric evidence rather physics...

Edit: Equation edited for better understanding (hopefully).

All other aspects being equal though, stronger muscles will result in more power. No matter your mechanics, your muscles ALWAYS provide the movement. Some martial artists confuse the advantages of muscular strength with "muscling" through movements. Most of them are trying to rationalize their lack of strength or their lack of a strength component in their workouts IMHO.
agree with this, its only people with little in the way of muscle mass, that claim it isn't an advantage, its not the actual size of the muscle that's an advantage, its its efficiency, however the process of making it more efficient also tend to increase it's size, a healthy fit adult male should have about 50 % of their body weight made up of muscle. If that's not so, you are either a)obese or b) under developed or c) both
