With less then a week alot is coming to my mind like what I want to do in the year 2004 with marital arts. Me I want to train harder and not rush but still try and get my brown with stripe or 2 stripe before 2005. Also want to compete at more out state touraments last year I only competed at like 15 huge tourament this year I am going to try and got to 20 Huge touraments as well as local and state tourament near me.

what about what is for u in 04?

Work toward my black belt (Testing in July). I have a lot to improve by then. My instructor thinks I'm doing really well, but I think I still need work. Specially on grappling. I'm a technique geek, so I always work on technique.

For 2004 I want to do the following -

Become a better instructor
Improve my use of angles when sparring
Get my 2nd degree
Lose forty pounds
Get all my students to test for at least one rank
Go to China
Be a better student

That's all I can think of now. I hope I accomplish even more.

My main goal is to spar more, I don't do much now so that should be easy.

My goals are simply to be a better fighter.
I want to increase my skill level in pure straightforward fighting. I wnat to increase my feel, my yielding, and my mindset of not trying to force a technique, but allowing my opponent to dictate what happens.

To start training seriously again (year and a half layoff)

Pretty busy working and instructing at the local college but I am going to do it somehow!!

MY TOP 5

1. Start to train on a more regular (ie, DAILY or bi-dailuy) basis.

2. Move up to Chodan Bo in TSD by the end of '04 (I'm a red/brn)

3. Continue my Modern Arnis (et all) training under dearnis.com and Datu Hartman :asian:.

MAN DO I LOVE THIS MA STUFF!

4. MAKE TIME to give to the TSD program at the Boys 7 Girls club.

5. Workout with weights so I'll have "GUNS" like TESS!

For the new year, in rough order of importance to me.

Improve my anaerobic fitness.
Improve my interior fighting skill.
Improve power generation on my left reverse punch/left cross.
Improve my left roundhouse kick.

Mine are pretty standard ones...

Not miss as much training due to injury/illness
Delve deeper into the theory of my art
Attend more seminars with Sensei MacEwen
Test for yon-kyu
Train outside of my art with a few friends from other styles

1. Train more
2. Train better
3. Try not to post unless attempting to be helpful or informative
4. Get my left shoulder back to Kenpo standard
5. Increase sensitivity in push hands
6. Do more outdoor training
7. Attend a seminar or two
8. Lose weight
9. Increase flexibility and strength
10. Spend as much time training with the dao as with the jian

For the early part of 2004:

Train, train, train for my BB test 3/13/04
Lose as much of the 40 pounds as I can by then.

After that:

Just enjoy doing whatever I chose to do and with whomever I do it with.

See where my journey takes me.

My goals that are martial art's related for the year 2k4...

1. loose 25+lbs.
2. focus on gaining more muscle
3. be the best student/teacher I can.
4. Study and learn all I can in Kyusho Jutsu/Join Kyusho International. http://ki.kyushojitsu.com/
5. Learn more
6. Try to make it to as many seminars, workshops and learning sessions as I can possibly attend this year.

I think thats a pretty healthy to do list.

My goals for 2004,

Train Harder
Increase my cardio
Lose some of my excess fat
Increase my knowledge, of pressure point techniques
Change systems of martial training.

My reason for the last one, is that I have just graded to Nidan. In a blackbelt grading of around 30 - 40 people, no one failed, and half of the people going for Shodan didn't know Naihanchi Shodan, which we learn at Blue belt, but they still passed. For this priviledge I paid $480.00. I feel that I am more than ready for the rank, but I don't feel that I have graded to it.

I know how ya feel on this one. My first school did the same. Massive gradings and everyone passed regardless. The only way to fail was a)not pay the testing fee b)fail the physical. The quality of your technique and the knowledge of theory was not important. Needless to say, I too left that school.

Improve strength, conditioning, speed, tactics, technique, sparring, grappling, forms, weapons, self defense so I can ...
Pass BB test in April. I'm scared to death:eek:

I'd like to get down to my pre-marriage weight of 180lbs, but my wife is a good cook.

Woe is me ;)
