store..grocery store, or a store like walmart.....
That’s interesting. Those places don’t sell distilled /deionised water in the U.K. Nobody uses it other than for topping up car batteries or watering chemical-sensitive plants such as orchids and carnivorous plants. What do you use it for in the US?

Most people use it in appliances when they have really hard water out of the tap. In your iron for steam, in a Neti pot, cpap machines, steam cleaners for rugs.

'Graduated' the couch to 5k program today! yay! I got what I wanted out of it, which is not necessarily to get round in an impressive time or even an average one, but just to develop the fitness to go the distance. Then I got a sudden call from a client who needed to clear a tree off the road, which was probably just as taxing :D

In the U.K. we have this new thing that is brilliant. Our cartons and bottles now have tops that remain attached to the bottle. It means you never drop the top on the floor, you don’t have to palm it while you’re pouring and then you want to recap, you just flip it over and rotate. Marvellous!

I like your perspective shift! But yes those are valid points!

All that calmness and relaxation from Maine.... gone... 15 minutes after arriving back home yesterday and work today is not helping

(I think the old biker days of my misspent youth have creeped in a bit today)

Ever have one of those days where you are trying real hard to be polite to everyone... because all you really want to do is hit something..... but that would cause things to go from horrible to disastrous real fast..... but you would probably feel better..... I'm just going to go home, sequester myself in my basement guan and do Taijiquan and Wing Chun the rest of the day...and hey, I have a heavy bag there

I'm going on a 5 day spiritual retreat. No drinking, no smoking, no internet. I'm going to walk, draw, pray, do a bit of kata, read and write. That will be all. See you in five days!
Does being ‘spiritual’ require you not to drink alcohol, smoke or use the Internet?

Best of luck.

Not really, it's more a penitence thing. I show by abstaining from these things that I genuinely repent of my naughtiness. They're gonna lay hands on me, it's gonna be great

Genuine repentance is very difficult. Perhaps it’s better to minimise one’s naughty behaviour in the first place. Who are ‘they’? Which denomination of the Church are you training within?

I’ve taken part in Zen retreats and they’re the toughest thing I’ve ever done. I used to occasionallyhear other participants wailing in distress because they’d never really ‘looked inward’ before and found it very disturbing. Then there are the murderous thoughts elicited by living in close proximity to selfish others!😡

I'm training with the church in Wales, a branch of the Anglican church- but these guys are more sort of non-denominational. It's OK though, I've contacted my chaplain to make sure I'm allowed

My friend is a theologian and she calls herself an ‘ultra-religious Christian’. She reads Aramaic, ancient Hebrew and Greek…in fact she tends not to read English translations of the Bible as she feels they deviate too far from the ‘original’. She’s left the C of E because she says it’s lost all it’s spirituality. It’s almost like they’re embarrassed to believe in the supernatural nature of their God! Very interesting and we’ll be discussing this and many other things on our overnight trip to Glastonbury on Halloween!

Have you read this? It’s fun but after a few cases, you can see where my ultra-religious friend is coming from!
