Man, my inner clock is totally messed up! It feels like it should be the beginning of the week...but's not...and then we got another holiday in the middle of next week!

(and my co-conspirator wants to have a GS meeting on Monday....we need it, but still, nobody does stuff between Christmas and New Years...(part of why I like that time of year, unless you do retail, it's quiet!)

But we need to get on the ball, COOKIE SEASON!!!

anybody want to buy virtual cookies for the troops? (I mean, they get real cookies....)

My Friday really is Friday this week....well I don't technically get off until Sat but its close enough

I don't know what it is about this time of year but I am thinking about taking my old classical guitar out of the case, growing the finger nails, and playing again

Actual conversation I had yesterday.

6 Medal of Honor recipients are standing at a hotel waiting for their escort.

Other officer: who are those old guys

me: They are Medal of Honor winners

Other officer: so is that like a high medal?

Me: the Medal of Honor?

Him: yeah?

Me: Your an idiot

I got to meet 6 medal of Honor Recipients yesterday at work. One of the most awesome days of work I've ever had. Truly amazing men and so Humble. With real heros like that walking around. Why does Miley Cirus "twerking" even end up on my TV.

Amen to that!

Awesome for you to meet these gentlemen! (Is it ok to call them 'gentle'?)

And I vote for immediate deportation of this ignorant twit!

this past May, my 19 year old nephew tested for his Black Belt...recently he was told by a friend who was about to test that they weren't sure if they were ready..the following is my nephew's response..I really think he nailed it - but thought it would be interesting to get others perspectives - enjoy! :)

"As a Black Belt you never feel 100% prepared, and it's that mild uncertainty that heightens our senses and makes us so good at survival. Even as you stand in front of your Master Instructor and he's tying your Black Belt around your waist for the first time, your are overwhelmed with both the feeling of accomplishment and a sense of doubt as your thoughts race to remind you of ever little mistake you have ever made. Earning your Black Belt is one of those things that - the more you practice and prepare - the less prepared you feel because the standard you set for yourself keeps growing. Like trying to win a race on a treadmill; you may never reach the end, but you can never stop. Although I have kept up on my training, if I were to take the Black Belt test again, I know I would be scared out of my shoes (funny because we do not test in shoes). This is because on testing day, it is not your Master or any other high ranking member that determins the fate of your success; your success comes from within. Just like ever battle you will ever fight will be fought agains yourself and the winner of the fight will be the one who did now allow himself to quit. So never give up. Just set a goal for yourself and fight to achieve it."

They were very much Gentleman in every sense of the word. I've never been more humbled to meet someone and they were thanking me for my service. I dont even rate to be in the same room as these men.
