I know chemo is rough, but I am glad you have treatments available. I have stage 4 metastatic carcinoid. No treatment available, but at least it's a slow growing cancer.

sorry to hear that, with all the advancements in medicine you would think they could find a cure.

Like Dirty Dog I am old and fat and have lived a longtime. I see these childern in there they have courage because they have not lived and to be so strong at such a young age is remarkable.

Thanks, but in my case I don't really think there's anything courageous about it.
There's no treatment. It'll eventually kill me. But it's slow growing, and since there's nothing to be done about it, I move on with life.
Only thing I do differently is that we've closed out my retirement account and we're spending that money NOW, while I can enjoy it. It's why we can make several dive trips every year.
Terry is different. He's undergoing chemo, and THAT can be a living hell.

Friday rolling steadily on. 2 more hours at work, must say I love this half day friday policy thing my place has. Then to see my daughter for a few hours and then start the driving and helping my friend and his girlfriend move both their houses into one new one together.

Gonna be a busy and tiring weekend, but gotta help out where ya can and all that.

All I can say, include them as much as possible. That's something I am rapidly learning from my involvements with the scouts and band as well...things don't work well when you keep talking down at the kids.

Crashed and burned today. Normally I have 5 girls that I can count on to at least talk a lot and participate. Well They were all on a field trip 2 other kids were out sick so it was me and 3 boys that never say a word. I also learned 10th grade boys can't to basic math. Not a good day now off to bed.

No surprise there. Wanna see how bad it is? When your bill is $6.12 hand the kid $10.25. If they don't have a machine to tell them the change, they're stuck.

Sadly this wasn't even that hard. We were talking about volunteer work. I was telling the story of the Penny princess. A little girl that started collecting pennies to buy police K9s bullet proof vests. She bought one for my dog back when I was a K9 handler. I said she collected enough money she has bought over 100 dogs vest and they are like 500 bucks each. The kid says that's like 5000 pennies. I said no try again. He and two other 10 graders could not figure out how many pennies it took to reach 500 dollars.

Ballen getting such verbal bravado I can understand, given his line of work, but not you.

As an aside, it's also a reason why, after a time, I came to realise why, on occasion, he can be so plain spoken in these pages; when bad guys threaten your life in your RL job, keyboard warriors don't bother you much :lol:.
