No no... You're buying stock replacement parts. Any counter monkey can get those for you.

Sent from an old fashioned 300 baud acoustic modem by whistling into the handset. Not TapaTalk. Really.

thanks!
But having had a weekend needing to do 4 trips to the part store for one belt....the mechanic mentioned that the good guys work under the week, the not so clever ones on weekends. Good thinking I guess...the weekend wariors don't need competent help.

I can't say I've noticed any difference in the parts, personally. NAPA is generally a bit more expensive than other places, but the staff does seem to be car guys, not counter monkeys.
I once went into an AutoZone to get a cam position sensor for a '98 Ram 5.9L and was told by the counter monkey that the 5.9L didn't have one.
Mind you, I had the dead part lying on the counter at the time...

Bought a coil from AutoZone once, told them it was for a 1978 Chrysler 400-4 V-8 and they gave me the wrong one, it was to big and the connectors were wrong, the parts "manager" there tried to convince me that the size of the coil did not matter because it was just windings and the connectors I could drill out. I looked at him and explained why that was incredibly stupid and then told him to give me the right damn coil or my money back, those were his only 2 options.... I was much younger and an auto mechanic at the time so I was not as nice and polite as I am today

Oh, great, now I have to find an Napa place....
No your good. I was speaking more along the lines of bigger items with moving parts like starters, alts, etc. Pads, rotors, oil, filters etc are all the same. Most are all made by the same factory anyway and just put in different boxes.

..met the president of my company today - completely down to earth guy -
I called him Sir, he smiled and said 'call me Dave'.. :) - I work for the

You know, IMO, the two most interesting and enjoyable threads on MT...for awhile now are... the LPTv4 and Jenna's "Have you learned any thing??"

Beyond that...its all if you ain't a grappler you ain't nothin', BJJ is the most awesome, undefeatable greatest bestests most superior to all other styles that ever have or ever will exist and of course the IQ challenged and trolls

I am beginning to feel we are not all that far off from

I have to be in a special mood to be playing with trolls.
MY ART IS BETTER THAN YOUR ART...eh, how boring.

I thought Krav Maga kicked everybody's butt?!
I think Aikido is much more elegant, but I take Hanmudo in a pinch
HanmuWHAT?
Yeah, I know.

I feel like I abandoned Manni in TKD, but my activity on forums comes in spurts.
And since I have not set fut in a Dojo in years, my experience is dwindling.

Forums are a little like gaming guilds:
The GM doesn't show up, the whole thing begins to crumble :)
(it's Bob's fault! ;))

But internet forums are no longer the preferred communication form for the internet.
Not sure why, because it is so much more stable, conductive to an intelligent discussion than the chat room offsprings of FB and Twitter or Tumblr.

I was just about to post some CMA videos of a rather good CMA guy when I thought...why am I doing this...all it will bring is the trolls and the idiots to cut it to pieces because it ain't grappling and they of course know all about all other martial arts because they took another one once..... bah..... not worth the aggravation

C clamps, but that's the problem, the left caliper won't collapse....

Maybe the fancy tool?

Yeah, and Husband took it out of my hands...as usual.

Not collapsing is not a good thing, Is the piston not moving or is it hung up on the bolts?

it's fixed. The air turned blue, but eventually the pieces got put back together.

The rotor on the left inside do feel kind of rough, but eh. The Master overruled my concerns. I suppose the next times they get turned or changed.

But one thing does bother me: the pad on that side was worn down to the metal, the outside one still had that groove through the middle. That does not give me the warm and fussies, as the other (right) side was no where near as bad.

If the rotor is rough, and it is a single vein (likely it is) it needs to be replaced. As or the uneven wear it means your caliper was hung up so it should be removed and have lube applied to the slides or it will hang up pretty much immediately

It sounds like the piston on the left side was hung up and the brake was dragging. The caliper needs to be dismantled and lubed. Then make sure the piston moves freely.

If the rotor is scored on the inside, then it needs to be turned or replaced. Not doing so means that your brakes will be less efficient and wear out sooner.
