That's how I get by now. Luckily people from the same Culture for the most part tend to move to the same areas so I find a kid and they help me but that gets awkward some times. Especially when the language gets more of the adult variety.

LOL, rest assure, just because they don't use it in front of Grandma, does not mean they have not heard it all before. (but it certainly puts a new ripple in the 'protect' aspect of work!)

I feel like such a pansy..... over 40 years of training MA and over 30 using a heavy bag and not once have I used gloves to hit the bag, always fists....Heck I use to use trees to train Sanda palm strikes with no gloves……well I have not been hitting the bag much for well over a year because it bothered my knees.... about 2 weeks ago I found I could hit the bag again so I started doing Xingyiquan Wuxingquan strikes….and…my hands and fists hurt…. I could handle about 3 hits per side per element (30 strikes) on the bag and I had to stop because my hands hurt to much…..so yesterday I broke down and went and bought so Everlast MMA grappling gloves…Yesterday I got in 8 per side for 5 elements (80 strikes) and my hands felt fine…It is not much compared to what I use to do….but it’s a start….but I still feel like a big pansy

don't dis Pansies...one of the few plants that happily live through (mild ) winters to give you early bloom in spring.

Now, not sure why you insist of going at life barehanded....after not using something for a while, it tends to go away, namely conditioning....train smarter, not harder...or the wisdom of age is being wasted...;)

I know, it is why I bought the gloves.....but after over 30 years of not needing them....it just feels wrong....and I feel like a big wimp... although I will admit it felt really good to be beating up a heavy bag again....even though my wife still insists I am breaking the house...even though the heavy bag bracketed to a steel I-Beam supported by steel posts mounted in a concrete floor in the basement....I'm apparently still incredibly powerful even with the gloves

See! It's all good!
(Bad A$$) ;)

did my normal workout this morning :) managed to get my cast leg to perform as it more or less should do - which meant that i could stand up straight :)

did a full bag session followed by some sit ups, dips, press ups and pull ups --- the cast really does make pull ups more interesting :)

gunna have another shake and then maybe some sleepsies :)

Some advice from an old guy who has been where you are and did what you are doing...stop

Give yourself time to heal or deal with consequences of what your doing later....Yeah I was told the same thing and yeah I didn't listen either... so I trained anyways......And you know what...they were right..... and those consequences ain't fun once you break that 1/2 century mark

been trying to come to terms with the inactivity LoL :) and i must have read nearly every magazine that was on the shelf in the store :)

so i got a bad dose of hyperactivity and the only way to cure it was to keep doing the things i do normally without the pain - i stopped taking the gucci hospital meds cos i was too far out of it for too much of the time. so now i stop when it hurts instead of carrying on like i was when i used the meds.

i know all too well about the after effects of having pins, screws, plates and rods and yup they get stiff and they get cold really quickly but exercise is an absolute must no matter how bad things are -

YOU JUST CAN'T BEAT KNOCKING 7 SHADES OUT OF A DEFENCELESS KICK / PUNCH BAG :)

Dr Yang Jwing Ming once told this story at a seminar.

One of his students came to him and was injured; his student asked him how he he could keep training while injured. Dr Yang told him to stop training, rest and heal. The student said you donÂ’t understand, I have to train, I canÂ’t just sit around doing nothing. Dr Yang said no choice, you are injured, you need to heal and when you are recovered you can start training again. The student said, but if I donÂ’t train I will dieÂ…. Dr Yang then saidÂ…die. If you need to train to survive and you keep training you could injure yourself so you cannot train ever again and then as you say you will die.

Basically just take the time, do what your doctor wants you to do or you “will” make it worse…been there done that and it is not fun.

That is the end of my sermons, I will not post about this again

Grilled asparagus is terrific. That's on my menu tonight. Copper river salmon, grilled with a balsamic glaze, grilled asparagus and a simple couscous.

We had steamed chesapeake bay blue crabs just caught a few hours ago. Burgers and dogs for the kids. I threw some asparagus on just to try it. Man is was great little olive oil. For desert grilled pineapple mmmmmm

Asparagus loves salt. All I do is olive oil, pepper and generous amount of salt. Fresh crab sounds good too.

Grape seed oil is also great fur grilling. Higher flash point than olive oil, but better for you than vegetable oil.

Went to a late lunch...or an early dinner with the family after going to the National Cemetery where my father is buried (he was in the Navy during Korea and Vietnam)
