Hi,

I did complete my 5 months Journey to Kickboxing. Started with 4 times a week and i do like it and doing now 4/5 times a week since last week.

Once a week technique/drills training and 3-4 times a week heavy bag training. Each sessions last 45-50 minutes. We train turn by turn with partner and in between we do push ups and other exercises and close with heavy bag again. So effective i am training 22-25 minutes

I am 40 years and 180cm and now 87kg. But when i started i was 83kg.

I noticed that i am not thicker and fit same jeans so more muscle mass. Although i barely see anything (i am always negative about results).

My question is will i get an flat belly eventually with this training regime and how long will it take?? I do eat very clean so rice/chicken/milk/yoghurt/nuts/fruit/vegetables

Fully depends on your diet and genetics.

Hi, my genetics is okay i think. I don't know how to check.

But i know that i can easy gain or loose weight if i want to. And my diet is very clean.

But can i give me a more better answer. With Genetics as answer one can answer all the questions with it

Does obesity or general flabbyness run in your family? That does Not mean weakness. The strongest people I know do not have a beach body.

On my fathers side NO
On my mothers side her sisters yes
But brothers not

I never had even not sporting a soft and fatty body.
My body is relative hard and seems that there is meat rather then fat.

Also i noticed when doing push ups people who train there for 1 year can't do more then few good push ups with few reps while i do now 30 the first 20 were very quick added

Define a "flat belly."

6-pack abs are fully the result of very low body fat percentage. That is 90% the result of diet. A very strict diet.

But a functionally "flat belly" -- meaning that you're not carrying excess fat -- is entirely doable. It's largely a matter of diet, but you can slack off a little more.

As others have said, there's also a factor of genetics, both in how your abs are structured and in how easily you gain or lose that fat... But in the end, it's largely about diet.

From what you've said-are you actually not looking to be in good shape, or dp you just not think so/expecting a different shape than your body type? If you've got no fat to burn you're not going to see a whole lot in that department, if you're looking to add muscle youll have to do more than just pushups and cardio. And if you're at the spot where you're in good shape but trying to get a 6pack or look celeb skinny, you need to start eating less or dehydrating yourself (not recommended).

Hi thanks all and Monkey,

But doing 4-5 times a week technique drills and heavy bag training. I was thinking that i am working on all the muscles and with proper clean doet i will get toned body?? I don't muscles like fitness but flat belly and toned look??? Did j waste 5 months off my time? What would you/other recommend?

Hi Goldleaf,

With a clean diet and regular exercise you should definitely be able to get a fit body, meaning a flat belly (not talking about a 6-pack). I must stress though that people have very different understandings of “clean” diet: low fat, low calories, low carbs, carnivore, vegan… To me it means most of all unprocessed food, i.e. pretty much what you describe, though I have absolutely no problem with natural fats.

It is absolutely possible to build up some muscle, especially in the beginning with all kinds of drills (push ups, sit ups etc).

I must say weight control is 90% diet, as someone already mentioned. So train for fun, for your health but if your main goal is weight loss, then training plays a minor role. If you had fun and feel healthier now, then those 5 months were no waste of time. But if the sole goal was to shed a few pounds, then your training was fairly pointless. It’s up to you. How do you see it?
