Hybrid Martial Arts or just scammers ?

before you go ahead and make changes and additions to things that are usually fine the way they are, make sure you have already completely exhausted every angle of your studies in that particular style.
No matter how many years that you may have spent in boxing, you will never be able to learn kicking skill from the boxing system. Do you have to wait after you have spent 20 years in boxing before you will start to learn how to kick?

How we did it in the old days ask the teacher to fight if he pretty competently kicks your ***. He might have something to teach. Then ask how much classes are. Just because you haven't heard of it or it's different from what you see as normal doesn't mean it might not be better. Jeet kune do was once a brand new Martial art.
Walking into a dojo and asking the teacher to fight.....is not a very good idea.

The post you quoted wasn’t about learning something new, but about changing a system. Your post seems to be talking about adding kicks to the boxing system.

So, an old boxing coach is no longer worth learning from?

I've been in the martial art field many years and my advice would be to try two or three schools out and judge for yourself. If you like it and it seems perfect for you, then train in it. At the same time, compare it to other arts as a way of studying martial arts in general.
