How Rough are 7, 8, 9th dan gradings in Karate and other martial arts?

I'm curious as to how many people here have been at a 7th, 8th or 9th Dan testing to see what they were about, or how many have received the same, or have set on a panel of same, in order fully answer the OP?

I have witnessed only one 7th dan test; my sah bum nim's. In our association there is only one 7th dan, no 8ths and our kwan jang nim is a 9th dan. There are a few 6th dans and a few 5th dans.

I have a 9th kyu
Maybe an 8th in a couple of months.
