Greetings everyone

So box cutters are far easier to access and publicly carry plus the industry need for utility knifes and box cutters will never go away and will more than likely never be banned
I'm not a lawyer and I'm not a cop, but I have worked in law enforcement. It is a common fallacy that any item such as a screwdriver or a hammer or a baseball bat or a utility knife isn't a 'weapon' when carried. It depends upon context. If you're carrying a baseball bat and you're on your way to a baseball game, no issues. If you're carrying a baseball bat down a dark alley in the middle of the night while shouting that you're going to bash someone's head in, then it's a weapon. You can claim "No, it's not a weapon, it's only a baseball bat" all you like, you are headed for the crossbar hotel.

Same with anything a person might carry to defend themselves. If it's for self-defense, it's a weapon. There's no 'ah ha, fooled you, it's legal' to it. Ask any cop or attorney.

No, box cutters won't ever be banned. Neither will kitchen knives. Tuck either one in your pocket and tell the cop that it's for self-defense and now it's a weapon and depending on where you are, it may be illegal. Again, don't believe me; ask a cop or lawyer.

I have 2 small issues here, but this may be cultural due to where I live. Everyone here carries a knife. No big deal. Someone walking around here with a box cutter- that guy is looking to slash somebody up.
My other question has to do with the "stun cut". Will it really stun someone? I use utility razors at work daily, and have cut myself to the bone with one. Didn't even feel the cut. Razors are sharp.
I do have respect for what you're doing. Being able to use an everyday item as a weapon is a good thing imo. Just also wondering why limit it to box cutters.

This is not a full list just my main areas of focus although now my sole focus has been combatives and black snake kungfu

Not knocking your experience, but those numbers aren't that high. I've been involved in MA for over 40 years, and I'm far from the most experienced (in any way you'd use that term) person on this forum.

I look forward to hearing more about the concepts you teach.
I definitely haven't trained that long. I hang my head in shame.

Because they are everywhere and easier to get than knifes

Plus when im not teaching i pay the bills by utilitie and warehouse work (2 places utility knifes are used heavily) so my carry actually integrates with my work

Bill, I strongly suspect you have skills and understanding I lack. The years don't really tell as much as we wish they did. I'm certain there are several folks here with fewer calendar years of training who have more total knowledge than I do.

And, even ignoring that point, we all do what we can from wherever we start. I was lucky to get a start at an early age. My number of years in MA is strictly a function of that.

I'm sorry, but it has to be said, adding those up....you don't look over 94 years old

But to the Xingyiquan: What did you learn in 16 years and who from? Same question for the Wing Chun...and was all of this in person with a teacher or online?
