Awhile ago I went to the Rennaissance festival in Michigan and they had a pretty nice capoeira demonstration. Here are some photos that I took.

Hey Terry,

It was a fun demo to watch. The capoeira club is somewhere in Ann Arbor if I am correct in my recollection. Unfortunately I did not catch their name.

Way cool stuff!

Just looking at the pics makes my back hurt!

Cool, thanks for sharing those. Looks like their flag says "capoeira mandinga" that's the name of their organization. I'm not sure who the key players are in that group, but it's a name I am familiar with. There might be a couple teachers here in the bay area from that group, maybe even headquartered here. I think Mestre Marcello and Mestre Wagner might be the guys here in San Francisco and San Jose.

You were there the same weekend I was. It was a nice demo. Are you from Michigan or just visiting that weekend?

Hey Josh,

I live in Alma Michigan. That is right smack dab in the middle of Michigan.
It was a good Renaissance festival. We go every year now to celebrate my oldest son's birthday and he can bring a friend along. It is always a treat to watch the jousting as I am a big fan of horses and grew up riding them.

Plus the Zuichini Brothers are hillarious!

Yep, know where Alma is. My parents have a summer home in Cadillac, so we're up 127 a couple times a year when my wife and I go to visit.

I end up making the festival every few years or so. We'll probably go more once we have kids old enough to interact with the fair.

An old acqaintence of mine is one of the jousters in that troupe. And I think I caught the Zuichini Brothers show twice this year. Definitely good stuff :)

Great pics Brian. Looks like it was alot of fun. Capoeira is pretty cool to watch. :)
