Because it's not always about winning

You would have to be very egocentric to consider that fight any sort of victory.
Read the title of the thread. It wasn't about winning. If you look at the end of the video you can see that the guy in the black shorts was pointing to the guy in the white shorts as the winner and the guy in the white shorts was raising the other guys hand recognizing him as a legitimate winner.

Both of them understood that it wasn't about winning and the crowd understood the same thing. If it was about winning then the guy in the black shorts would have just finished the other guy off and continue to hit him in the head. Maybe you haven't gotten to that level in your martial arts where you don't feel the need to win.

He didn't lose well because he got pounded. What he did do gracefully is accept the loss for what it is and didn't try to make any excuses. You are confusing how people lose vs how people handle and react to losing. Getting a knee to the face and then a ground and pound is a terrible way to lose.

In this situation, knowing the background it is not the case, but what is always important to remember is the other persons attitude. If I was losing in a fight, and my coach sent out a towel, I would accept that. I would likely be annoyed at the time, but I trust them to do the right thing. If I am in a (professional or amateur) public fight, and my opponent feels like he's doing so well he can just tap the floor, I would be incredibly pissed and demand a rematch. The opponent has no idea what my strategy is, and should trust my coach to throw the towel if its necessary. If he really thinks its pointless to continue he can just outbox and wait until the refs decision. That's much less of a blow to me then tapping the floor after having a successful round.

You understand what patronising is?

I don't feel the need to win due to pity from my oponant. So that was not a win for either fighter. It wasn't even a respectable loss. That was an embarrassment.

Mabye you will reach that level of martial arts where you respect the other person's right to be there. That he has trained hard and deserves to be treated as an equal.

Not stopped halfway through a fight patted on the head and told he did a good job.

Refusing to leave your corner is a terrible way to loose.
Knocking your self out is a terrible way to loose.
Getting disqualified is a terrible way to loose.
Falling out of the cage is a terrible way to loose.

Doing a backflip as part of you entrance and stuffing it.Well judge for your self.
Getting hit with a knee is fine

Being announced to the crowd while coming into your fight music then turning around and walking back out is a terrible way to lose as well! left us all gobsmacked lol, never did find out why as we never heard of him again.

I doubt that I'll ever be like that. I have nothing to do with whether someone feels like they deserve the right to fight me.

That's not how I see that.
Knocking yourself out is a representation of bad technique. It has nothing to do with losing. The problem is that your technique causes harm to you. It doesn't matter if you are fighting in the ring or practicing, because you would still be at risk for knocking yourself out due to your technique.

Getting disqualified can be a representation of many things. Unsportsmanlike behavior, violation of the rules either intentional or unintentional, or not meeting a set of requirements as defined by the rules and regulation.

Falling out of the cage is a terrible way to loose.
In lei tai falling out of the raised platform is part of the sport so I guess it all depends on what the rules are.

More like embarrassing. lol Even if you win that embarrassment would still be there. I've seen winners of a fight do the same thing only to have the crowd laugh at them.

Maybe he had an upset stomach and didn't want to lose like this guy did

As a side note. I have this superpower where I can read a title of a video like that and not have to watch it.

UGH! We did not need the close ups! I've seen fighters throwing up before and one, who is infamous anyway, with a big brown stain on his white shorts which he thought was funny.

Visuals are much more entertaining lol. Did he run from the ring? or did he try to play it cool? lol.

I bet that walk back to the locker room was the longest walk ever. lol.
