Even if you get a belt that's already black it started out as a white belt. Every colored belt started out as a white belt and then was dyed whatever color it is. Underneath the coloring its a white belt.

If you’re going to be pedantic, be accurate. They are almost certainly made from black cloth, not made as white belts, then dyed.
