The book that scared me the most was The Exorcist. Scared the hell out of me.

Then I saw the movie at a midnight showing and the whole theatre was scared, really scared, which makes you more scared.

I had a seven a.m. class at UMass, Boston the next morning so I was going off a couple hours sleep. It was winter, freezing cold, I’m soaking in a hot bathtub at about five, thinking about the movie. When we had a power failure. I damn near jumped out of that tub, yelling NO!

I don't know that I've ever bought or read a horror book, at least not intentionally. Watched a few horror films, but something about it as a written medium never appealed to me. That said, when you publish it share a link to where we can buy it. It'll be my first horror book purchase, and I'll actually read it all the way through

Nice. I'm not far from DC myself, so I've seen the stairs up close and personal. Coincidentally, I'm also not far from Burkittsville, Maryland (where the Blair Witch Project was set). For six years, I worked at the college where the BWP students supposedly went to school. It's not New England certainly, but this area has some decent horror chops.

from Massachusetts. Can’t really get erotic without screwing up the storyline.

Try Bram Stoker's original Dracula. It's written as a library of journal entries, articles, and witness accounts. Quite original for its time.

I don’t get scared reading horror or watching films (other than the cheap ‘jump scares’ eliciting primal sympathetic nervous system flight-or-flight mechanisms, that pepper modern horror films). I don’t get pulled into dramas or action films like my other half or friends and I think this is down to being unable to ‘suspend disbelief’. I do enjoy the narrative, the unfolding of a good story and all it’s complexities, but I’m very much a bystander dispassionately watching the action from the outside!

Perhaps this is why I have a low tolerance for poor, corny entertainment
