why Karate (Oriental Martial arts)?

When the Tudors died out Didn't the Stuarts become the royal family until they died out. Then the German Hanovers who didn't even speak English were imported? Then they changed their name to Windsor and learned English. So King Charles the III is actually German?
This is... sort of true. I mean, he's of German descent. If you can last three generations without murdering anyone though, you're pretty much native. Much as the fash would have you believe otherwise, we're a nation of immigrants, from Anglo Saxons all the way through to Poles.

They could speak English but their surname was Saxe-Coberg/Gotha and George V changed it to ‘Windsor’ after a Royal residence in Berkshire in 1917, mainly due to post-war, anti-German sentiment.

In the same way many Americans claim to be Irish/Scottish, yes. King Charles III’s ancestors were German.

My ancestors changed their names early on because they didn’t want to be associated with me.

"The Firm" has tremendous wealth what with the crown jewels and the income producing properties they own and, as I understand it annual revenue from the taxpayers. I have heard the King Charles III is trying to reduce the expenditures of the firm.

If, as stated, they have no real power then what is the benefit to the subjects for the costs involved? Just an entertaining show?

Angles, Saxons, Normans - they’re all longtime German/Danes with splash of Norwegian

We had a prime minister recently (Roshi Sunak) who was considerably wealthier than the King! 😅

The elderly in the U.K. are unable to heat their homes in the winter, due to his government’s policies, so he has to be seen to be engaged is a cost cutting exercise! After all we did behead King Charles I.

I personally do like Charlie-boy not least for his environmental stance and degree of openness (unlike his mother who might as well have been a stuffed mannequin!) but feel they need to rely more on their business income than on rents and taxpayer’s.

The facile argument in favour of the Royal family is that they attract Americans and other visitors to the U.K. and spend their money over here 🤔 Then there’s tradition 🤷🏾 I much prefer our Royal family to electing a head of state, because we know the ways in which their insanity manifests from their track record and can control them appropriately ,unlike a certain, recently elected head of state who is revealing vastly unpredictable insanity and egomania!
