What is it like to have friends?

Loser

I'm asking because I've never had any. When I was in school, I was that kind of the invisible kid who sat all alone in a corner and no one ever talked to. And when I grew up -- whenever I had a job -- the situation wasn't better either. And so, I have never had any friends or love stories. I know that now, in my 38, it's too late to learn social skills and start interacting with people of my age -- who wants new friends in their late 30s? So I'll never experience what it feels like to have a social life.

Tell me, what does it feel like to have friends? What did I miss?

Sod it, I'll be your friend if you like, then you can find out. Internet friendship is better than none at all. I'm 39 and generally well disposed toward people. Be warned that normal is a relative term, and when your frame of reference is other artists and other martial artists, it can become a downward spiral very quickly. The same, I'm learning, is true of the priesthood, so I don't really know any normal people. Long story short, I'm strange, want to be friends?

This is martial arts forum. (Friendly)martial arts forum. How bout me? Can I be your friend? I dress nice, im good looking, I can style, I can profile, I can dance all night, and I channel Rick Flair when I drink. 😊 WOOOOOH!!

Judging from what I see of people that have friends.....they're a pain in the ***, take up precious time and energy, and can easily become a burden. So you're not missing anything.

I am far too sober to attain Flair-like levels of exhuberance, I'm afraid.

I know a lot of people but only have a small circle of really close friends. These are the kind of guys that would go out of their way to help me if I was in deep crap. They would go out of their way to help me even if it wasn't in deep crap. I think it's good for everyone to have a few people in their lives they can really trust. Not only do you have those friendships, but you also have some comfort knowing someone on this planet has your back, and you have theirs.
