Tyson vs Paul

I think Sammy has had too much of this:

Jake couldn't murder Tyson, he was barely breathing by the end of 8x2 minute rounds.

He stayed outside Tyson's reach almost the entire fight.

He was too scared to stay in the clutch after round 1.

Nobody noticed the lack of clinching after the first 2 minutes? Paul wouldn't do that again he stayed at range. Talk about murder, Jake Paul would be a dead man if he'd stayed inside the swarm range.
If Jake Paul thought, he could withstand a Mike Tyson punch then he would have. Just like the 2 women thought they could withstand the other's punch, so they traded punches.

He beat Tyson the same way others have beaten him, from a distance. Watch Tyson's training videos. It makes no sense to think that those punches can't hurt.

Tyson was not in good shape.

Iā€™m grateful for last night. No regrets to get in ring one last time. I almost died in June. Had 8 blood transfusions. Lost half my blood and 25lbs in hospital and had to fight to get healthy to fight so I won. To have my children see me stand toe to toe and finish 8 rounds with a talented fighter half my age in front of a packed Dallas Cowboys stadium is an experience that no man has the right to ask for. Thank you.ā€
Tyson's victory was showing up and seeing it through.

For whatever reason, it was a disappointing fight. My friend said he would not watch it because he wanted to remember Tyson from his heyday. I reminded him he avoided seeing Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd with me for the same reasons. He was wrong about Zep and The Floyd, he was right about this Tyson fight!

Anyway, taking on Tyson looks great on Paulā€™s CV (resume), taking on Jake Paul doesnā€™t look so good on Tysonā€™s. šŸ™„
We all get old. I think that's what people fear the most. Not watching Tyson aging but to finally understand that we are destined to the same path. No one escapes age. We all get old.

Someone should have explained that to Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano. Mexican boxers were known to not care about being hit.
I only saw the last minute of the last round of that fight (I was watching Cobra Kai Season 6 Part 2 before tuning in to the fight).

Either way, whatever the strategy might be, as long as they're not breaking any rules it's pretty childish to say things like "He only won because..."

I mean, what, is he only the better fighter if he stands there and lets Tyson hit him? Make that make sense.

We already are. Once again, the goal is to hit without getting hit. If Tyson was as good in that fight as he was in 1988, then the tactics that you're attributing to Paul (which doesn't break any rules, by the way) wouldn't have saved him.
Go back and read what I wrote about Mayweather Jr.. He made a career out of staying out of range.

To do this doesn't mean that you are a better fighter. It just means that you don't fear your opponent's skills or power. The first fight that night was a perfect example of what I'm talking about about. One boxer didn't fear his opponent at all. The things that he did are things that we would never do. The fighter was literally delivering baby punches to the guy's stomach.

The Indian fighter slapped boxed and baby punched his opponent through all rounds. His opponent wanted to be seen as a boxer but the Indian fighter denied him that honor through the entire match. That's the match that I didn't like. People complained about the Tyson match, but the first match was a waste. I rather watch 2 kids spar than that first match.

I ain't doing a goddamn thing but holding you to task. YOU made the claim, YOU back it up. That's your responsibility, not mine.
Wow, anger issues huh?

You demanded that I go find Jake Paul insulting Tyson.

I have a responsibility to...what? Go search the Internet for stuff that's been talked about and analyzed for over a year, including the fight getting moved?

I think you are just really uninformed about the pre fight antics and are somehow projecting into me some "task".

Yeah that's his nickname and anybody who has actually followed pro boxing knows he's been trying to make himself the new bad boy.

He's also trained very hard and seriously so on a technical level he's doing well. But he's got the same bloated ego and overconfidence I've seen in many boxers who were technically good but went downhill fast.

I thought he fought really well, age issues aside, nobody else out there is doing this level of combat sport at 58.

He would play with anyone here like a cat toy, for sure.

But the boxing peanut gallery being what it is...I'm not surprised people were let down. They've never been there and never will.

No. Just no. Remember, rounds are scored. So there are disincentives to getting hit, even if you don't fear your opponent's power.

Secondly, it still doesn't make sense to take hits, even if you don't fear their power. I have a daughter who just turned 18 recently. Let's say she was in abusive relationship with dude who's a real wimp, and I confront him. Does that mean I take his hits because they're not as hard as mine? Of course not.

Serrano vs Taylor was a great fight, and a much bigger controversy.

I know why Taylor was given the decision too. Serrano took too much damage and that can factor in and override Compubox.
