When this young man started at our dojo, he was about 4 feet tall. Now he's 6' 1" and he's fast, has great reflexes, and I'm having a lot of trouble keeping up with him sparring. Terrifically talented, he's also a great volunteer at the dojo, great with the younger kids, polite, respectful, and in all ways he's becoming a good man.

But I have to cheat to beat him sparring. Step on his foot, tackle him, etc. It's sad, I tell ya. Why so soon old so late smart?

I have been toweled up by talented kids before.

Some people are just going to be better than me.

lol doesn't sound like cheating to me. You perform within your abilities and not the abilities of your opponent. So if you have to get sneaky and tricky then so be it.

Now when he starts stepping on your foot then just remember you taught him that lol.

And you know you love it. (I do, too)

Jam him, every chance you get. Youngins don't handle getting jammed well.
