I realise I'm gonna cop flak for this, but I actually like the new poetry the kids are writing. The Rupi Kaur kind of stuff. Yes, it's simple and it's direct, but that's one of its strengths. Yes, it's very different from the kind of poetry we were writing in the 00s. But that, too, is a strength. It has unashamed raw power. Sentiment, grace and abstract nouns are no longer forbidden. The kids are alright, and so are their poems.

OOOH...Mrs Wu surprised me with a new leather jacket last Saturday.... I was wanting one.... the only jacket I use to wear.....30, 40 years ago...... but then I was hanging out with bikers, drinkers & Hell raisers then too..... I think I'll omit that part...but I am happy about the jacket

Yeah, just not a fan of mackerel. Plenty of other fish would work for me for that protein (or just the egg if you put extra egg in).
