Speaking of 50 something Martial Artists. My strength is off the chart for my age. But my cardio endurance needs more work - we usually do 10 mins of " tabata" like stuff in the beginning of class (pushups, then squats, then XYZ with no break) -then move into alot of kick boxing. I am usually the most winded and sweaty, but then again I am 10 years beyond the age of anyone else in class so I try not to be too hard on myself. What I am finding as I train 3 times a week - is adding in heavy weight lifting on off days (next morning after MMA class) is getting harder and harder, my body needs more time to recover from MMA classes. Been trying to rework my off day routines.
