Snippet of my second fight Plus Chad Owning

God some of you people have some sticks firmly implanted don't you?
This is a 14 year old or so kid who happens to enjoy what he is doing.
I know some of you are are getting pretty crusty in your old age, but let the kid be a kid, hes not bragging about a street fight, or hurting someone, hes simply excited because he won his tournament, he has high hopes for himself, is a little naive, and very excitable.

Let the kid be a kid, let him have fun, get off his back already, I swear some of you must have completely forgotten what it was like to be 14....

I to would prefer he had completely proper english, and a Humble nature, but then I would probably guess he was an adult and not a CHILD! Besides I personally think Humbleness is overrated in a sport fighting setting. Attitude and the entire Mental element have a big effect in Sports fighting. Anyways continue going about demeaning a 14 year old child who is still in school.....
I am not personally offended by anything that Shelton has said. And frankly, I have seen worse.

However, if a person wants to wear it hard and swing it around on the internet, he or she can expect to be scolded regardless of age. It is the nature of the internet.

Also, anyone with a signature saying that a family of olympic athletes are trash and that he or she is here to prove it had better be prepared to post some stunningly spectacular videos that can back that up. If the rest of this forum were composed of teen agers, he would be getting hassled.

As it is, people are telling him things that, if he chooses to listen, will help him out.

Oh I hear you Daniel, and I can be more harsh then most... I just see a huge difference between a 14 year old and an adult. I see nothing wrong with giving advice, but there are people that are making fun of his post structure, and stating they are laughing at him... well giving advice and trying to demean and ridicule a child are two different things, and I believe that his parents should be determining how respectful or not he should ast, and his instructor can also determine the same. Those that are going beyond seem to me to be forgetting they are talking to a child.

If you believe his Facebook page than he is by no means a child, although I agree he certainly posts like a child.

I have no great love for the Lopez family, but with 7 World Championship Gold Medals and 2 Olympic Gold, 1 Olympic Silver and 2 Olympic Bronze medals between the 3 of them, I do have great respect for them. My daughter came up 1 point short in her match that would have put her in the ring against Diana in Vegas 2 months ago. That would have been the highlight of her life, regardless of the outcome.

I'm trying to get this David, but I don't understand why you think this guy is a child?

His facebook profile (what I could see of it) is enlightening. It reveals where he goes to college and where he trains in taekwondo. His wall is littered with his video postings.

As far as him having a red/black belt, some schools use those for adults as a precursor to a full 1st dan. They then take on a few black belt responsibilities — judging, refereeing, learning Koryo, etc. Then after that trial period they test again for 1st dan.

So, he's an adult, who should know better. But doesn't. I know the type. They're infuriating.

KingTKD....Please don't stop posting....I don't agree with anything that you say but you have the right to post it...May be at some point you will come around...TKD is a culture that does not thrive on hype and it will never be appreciated...

Hype does not work in this Sport...Respect is gained by what you do in the ring..

Your statement nobody cares about what goes on with Eleven Year Olds is misguided...The top 11 year olds BB are known in the Sport TKD World...ATC's son is very talented...

I saw your fights.. nobody is denying that you have some potential...but you are years away from competing at a high level... and with your attitude you will never get there because nobody will be willing to train you....

First off congrats on having a kid in the 11 year old division.
Nobody pays attetion to that div anyway....
Second I DONT SAY ANY OF THIS CRAP IN THE DOJANG OR OUT IN THE STREETS... Second please let these threads die out...
I told you all these comments were a joke...
This is my last post
Just remember my name
Shelton Denson*
and when u see me in california
and vegas and where ever there might be tournaments
just know you helped contribute
to my training...
Have a nice day

I would hope you don't say this at your dojo. I happen to know Luis, Manny and Imelda. I used to stop by there every now and again and spar with all those guys. Scott Fuji was also there at the time.

Say what you will here, I happen to know they would smack your dick in the dirt if you talked like that in the dojo.

, sorry could not resist. King I am curious as to who is contacting you since you are not AAU and if was I would know since I am one of them, it could not be rge USAT because Jean would have mention your name when I saw him. Umm maybe it was some other country trying to build a team or some poor guy that does not know any better. At any rate Gorilla is right he would know since he is there with all the top people from California. Give it a rest and as far as tpo let this thread die why it really does bring joy to my heart.

LOL, it's only not bragging if you can back it up...

Me thinks you need to regroup and re-evaluate your internet persona a little bit. Seems that while we can play pretend on the net, the Bull is still found out quickly....(works better if you don't attache your real name to it)

Have some crow and humble pie and keep on keeping on...

And here some recommended reading for you:

I am a cocky person with a humble mind set.. which not make much sense but if you ever met me you would think i was the most humblest person in the world.

1. Read the thread about 'you react how you train'. What you show us is what you are...not what you think you are inside. Cocky thinking will get you hurt. Other people here have learned that.

2. Read the thread about 'what is the role of formality in the dojang'. We require discipline because we're doing potentially dangerous things. Lack of discipline and self-control will hurt not just you but those you train with. And lack of discipline in one part of your life (like here) is a big indicator that you probably lack discipline in training.

Whether you progress depends on your willingness to be humble and learn. Look in the mirror. Focus. Practice right and don't slack. Nobody said it was easy.

Best wishes,

Carl

My son is only 10 years old and pretty much is at the top of his division nationwide. He has won national level tournaments by huge margins. Yet if you ever ask him anything about any of his opponents he will say nothing but good things. If you ask him about his self he will always tell you that he is not that good yet and that he needs to keep training.

He just won two national level tournaments 6 fights total, all shutouts, and some by double digits. But he will tell you that each match was hard even if I won't. He makes it a point to talk and befriend each kid and if they want pointers afterwards he will help them. He told one kid that he was pretty good and could have beat him but just don't be scared next time. The other kid was pretty good, but when matched up in the finals with my son he got a little scared and did not fight they way he did in his other matches. My son only won 5-0 and knows that that kid was just as good as him if not better and that next time the score can be different. He does not go around posting OWNAGE.

Even kids that are not that good, he will just tell them that they are doing pretty good and to keep practicing. There are a couple of great twin kids that my son use to meet up with every year at nationals and they got to know me and my son. My son moved up a weight class and they don't get to fight him anymore but at this qualifiers they made a point to come up to us and say that they were glad my son moved out of their division but that he was fun to fight and that they liked fighting him. They then watch one of his matches before their own and cheered him on. These were 10 year olds. If I ever had to move to their area I would look up that school in a heartbeat because they are teaching the right kind of respect.

Not to hijack, but I want to give respect to ATC, his son, and his son's instructors. This kind of behavior is class in any activity, and is what we should all aspire to. It speaks greatly of his potential as a person to be there at such a young age, and it speaks volumes about his parents and instructors as well.

Humility shown by the best is as inspiring as positive attitude and indomitable spirit when shown by the most challenged of us. My son had a demonstration match with a severely challenged athlete, and it brought tears to my eyes to see the dedication and positive attitude of the other young man.

Congratulations ATC. You have 'won' what really matters.

And saying it on the internet is so much better than saying at the dojang and other places. Maybe you should have said it at the dojang. Your instructor could then have counseled you within the school rather than you getting counseled on the web for all the world to see.

to put it simply I am a cocky person with a humble mind set.. which not make much sense but if you ever met me you would think i was the most humblest person in the world.
But we have met you. Electronically. We know more about you than you might wish us to. We know who you are, for one.

To your credit, you put your fights up for all the world to see. But in doing so, you have demonstrated that you are willing to run your mouth and boast about a mediocre performance. You demonstrate a lack of self control. Your signature also demonstrates that you lack courtesy.

We also know that you use the fact that you are on the internet to behave in a way that you ordinarily would not (according to you), which shows a lack of integrity.

Being a winner is an all time thing, not just a some time thing. If the only time you are a winner is in the ring, then you are really not a winner. Winning is about more than just statistics. It is about who you are as a person. Your whole attitude.

ATC's son is a winner because of what he does when he isn't fighting. The fact that he wins matches is a nice bonus.

i recognize i need to practice a lot and i have a long way to go
but i feel the training regiment im currently on will get me there alot sooner.
Do you really recognize this? Or do you now realize that you are not as hot to trot as you thought you were after finding that nobody here thought all that much of your fights?

So far, you have offered no evidence for this and you have been questioned about it by people who are in the know. Sounds like you are trying to create a practical justification for your poor conduct on the web.

This is the internet. Once you birth a thread-child, you have no say in its end. You were also advised to tone it down in several previous threads, so don't get whiny now.

As I said earlier, I am not personally offended by anything that you have said, and I do not dislike you. I hope that you heed the good advice of people here and learn to conduct yourself well. There are some very good people here to connect with for a TKD athlete like yourself. You can make some very useful contacts here, but if you turn them off straight away, it will all be for naught.

Daniel
