Snippet of my second fight Plus Chad Owning

Not to seem rude, but I didn't see anyone getting OWNED in these videos. I think my definition of OWNING is different than yours.

its called hype lol..

hmm the difference
In my opinion is i guess
The gifted athlete does it because there
good at it and interested in one element
enough to purse getting to the top.

The practitioner purses an all around knowledge of the marital art
and all elements of that make it up.
thru this makes his/her understanding of the elements
better than the gifted athlete.
which in turn can make him a better at sparring
and poomse than gifted athlete.

Then people like me who are in between
people who recognize there gift but strive to push themselves
each day past there limits.
A serious practitioner but not as focused on the other elements
as much as he should..
Training wise we are *nuts* the end
just keep training hard because from what Ive seen of your vids you might get a shock when you spar some guys who are actually of a high standard.

Dude, I am having one heck of a time decyphering what you are writing.

Maybe put a little of that English you got in school to good use?

FYI, many folks here are not from the US nor native English speakers.

Kingtkd said:
well it is English with a little slang.

It's not so much the slang as it is the bad sentence structure and lack of or misuse of punctuation. You're also breaking up sentences into a weird arrangement of paragraphs that makes it look like a badly written poem kind of format. It's hard to follow.

My inner editor had to have a bit of a rant. Done now.:soapbox:

God some of you people have some sticks firmly implanted don't you?
This is a 14 year old or so kid who happens to enjoy what he is doing.
I know some of you are are getting pretty crusty in your old age, but let the kid be a kid, hes not bragging about a street fight, or hurting someone, hes simply excited because he won his tournament, he has high hopes for himself, is a little naive, and very excitable.

Let the kid be a kid, let him have fun, get off his back already, I swear some of you must have completely forgotten what it was like to be 14....

I to would prefer he had completely proper english, and a Humble nature, but then I would probably guess he was an adult and not a CHILD! Besides I personally think Humbleness is overrated in a sport fighting setting. Attitude and the entire Mental element have a big effect in Sports fighting. Anyways continue going about demeaning a 14 year old child who is still in school.....

In the last 4 or 5 years I have talked with many kids his age, and pretty much everyone of them would have told him the same thing.

I suppose it's a privilege of youth to act stupid in public...but it's not a prerequisit...
Age is not relevant for getting you tail kicked due to excessive cockiness...there is always somebody better and badder around the next corner.

Lucky it is not so much of him being a kids or teenager but the lack of respect he has toward everyone, lets see he called his instructor bad because he lost a sparring match, needs to find a better school because of his instructor being bad at sparring but yet he brags about winning. Let see if his instructor has tought him his skill set and he is winning, that means his instructor deserve some credit, it is not always him, he alone can do nothing but with teammates and coaches instructor he can learn and develope skills that may carry him to the next level.

Two things here:

I thought he was older. He looks older to me in the video and I don't think a 14 year old is allowed to post on this site. So I assumed he was older. He never answered the question of his age (that I saw).

I just gave my honest opinion of the videos. I didn't agree with him about anyone dominating those "fights". I would have said the same thing if a 30 year old posted those videos. Again, just my opinion.

Which part made you laugh the fight or all this humbleness that he has going on?
Both. The fight was not that good by any means. Two mediocre competitors going at. I have seen some off the hook Jr's. that would have KO either competitor in the first round.

The lack of respect this kids shows suggest that maybe he needs to change schools, if this is what his current school teaches. None and I mean none of our school members let alone team members would be allowed to act like this kid. Team members would be suspended from the team and school members would have some serious consequences. If it continued then they would be asked to leave the school. I have seen it done.

My son is only 10 years old and pretty much is at the top of his division nationwide. He has won national level tournaments by huge margins. Yet if you ever ask him anything about any of his opponents he will say nothing but good things. If you ask him about his self he will always tell you that he is not that good yet and that he needs to keep training.

He just won two national level tournaments 6 fights total, all shutouts, and some by double digits. But he will tell you that each match was hard even if I won't. He makes it a point to talk and befriend each kid and if they want pointers afterwards he will help them. He told one kid that he was pretty good and could have beat him but just don't be scared next time. The other kid was pretty good, but when matched up in the finals with my son he got a little scared and did not fight they way he did in his other matches. My son only won 5-0 and knows that that kid was just as good as him if not better and that next time the score can be different. He does not go around posting OWNAGE.

Even kids that are not that good, he will just tell them that they are doing pretty good and to keep practicing. There are a couple of great twin kids that my son use to meet up with every year at nationals and they got to know me and my son. My son moved up a weight class and they don't get to fight him anymore but at this qualifiers they made a point to come up to us and say that they were glad my son moved out of their division but that he was fun to fight and that they liked fighting him. They then watch one of his matches before their own and cheered him on. These were 10 year olds. If I ever had to move to their area I would look up that school in a heartbeat because they are teaching the right kind of respect.

This kid has issues with attention. Only kids that are trying to prove something to someone acts like this. I could see most kids maybe posting up something like here is a recent clip of mine that I think I did pretty well in. Let me know what you think, and if you see something that I can improve on let me know. Not "OWNAGE", followed by I was cracking jokes and not stretching, and so on. Nor would any of our kids have a signature like his. Nor what he has stated on his profile page.

No, this kid would not be in our Dojang at all.

And I just checked there are no sticks implanted anywhere.

Shelton Denson let me give you some of the best advise I can, be humble and have a little integrity it will help you make Junior and Senior National Teams. The USOC will not put anyone that has a bad attitude in the Olympics. I really hope you will be in Florida as a BB, because you and my 16 year old are in the same division, this way you can see what is consider a up and coming fighter and the dedication it takes to get there. I only wish the best to people and in time maybe you will come to understand this in the ring and in life.

See that is your problem. You need to be humble and respectful all the time. You make remarks about things you know nothing about, and you come across rude.

You can't make statements that are in bad light and taste and then say they are just jokes. Then they are poor jokes and you need to stop making them. You make statements and want no repercussions from your statements so you end each with, this is just a joke. No one is going to let you say what you want and really mean and then just get off by saying Oh it just me joking. Who jokes like that? No one. What is said is what you meant and believe.

I can also tell that you don't know much because when you say no one pays any attention to 11 year olds in the sport world, you are wrong. There is a cadet program coming out that is geared to up and coming 12-13 year old that were recognized when they were 10-11 to prepare these talented competitors for Jr. level before they are Jr. level. Any serious competitor would know this. The org pays attention to all levels.

I wish you luck but you are going to need a bit more than that.

I do think Shelton is coming across the wrong way but remember, he is only a kid and is bristling with self confidence in his own ability.
If he says he is only joking by his comments then I believe him.

Communication via online forums and email does lead to open interpretation of those who read the message, and can often be mistakenly taken the wrong way to what was originally intended.

I do understand where the other forum members are coming from after reading this thread, however I dont think we need to get into a slanging match.

All the best Shelton! I hope you achieve your dreams in the coming years.

he is only a kid .

Maybe he is older than you think. If he is a 14 year old kid, he wouldn't be allowed membership to this site. Unless of course, he was lying on his application, and pulled one over on Bob. But then, that would be against the law

.

Even if he is a kid between 14-17, he is still a BB and should be held to that level, he is and would be consider a Dan rank by the Kukkiwon and not a poom belt.

I don't see anyone trashing this kid. In fact, much of the critique was offered (in my opinion) in a very kind though direct manner. I know I had worse given me to when I was a cocky teenager.

I'm glad there were older, wiser men who smacked me on the back of the head and told me to get over myself.
