Share your greatest song or lyric???

@just2kicku ...its the nature of the beast... wah wah wahwahhh waw waw waw :bangahead:

Haha, gotcha :) yay. Do I get my gold star? :D

And from that neatly to this - let me see Joe how good you are with a little Brit rock, heehee. I even give you the title, who sang it though?
The night was black was no use holding back
'Cos I just had to see was someone watching me
In the mist dark figures move and twist
Was this all for real or some kind of hell
Six six six the number of the beast
Hell and fire was spawned to be released
~~~
@JadecloudAlchemist Oh goodness those are masterful. Banging choices thank you. I never got further into jazzfunk than Herbie Hancock and thank you for Chameleon - that was my absolute favourite Herbie period and fav album of his maybe except for Empyrean Isles. I do not know what happened to him once he reached the 1980s?? It all went awry. When it comes to Miles, I would always prefer Blue in Green and Generique and which is music I could dine on forever :) When it comes to keys, nobody could work them quite like Thelonious imo :)
Well I will happily defer to your depth of knowledge in these moBo styles :asian:
Older Bill Bruford is great trippy jazzy bluesfunk, his newer stuff is not so good I think. I love this weird freakiness :D
@Chris Parker – ah my lovely Helen that is too too easy: TFF – “Mad World”! Hoorah! And but not their best lyric – that was “Memories Fade” – There’s only need, I love your need so much I’m losing me. Well esp. for you here is my very favouritist antipodean girl. See this is what girls from your neck of the woods should be like – talented interesting and sassy not some Erin McWhatsherface :p I am absolutely in love with this song from last year, Ladyhawke “My Delirium” and you get the vid prize since it is so good. Hope it is "available in your country" .. stupid youtube, pffft
[yt]QN8HwUxFouM[/yt]
Now, if we're going to bring such private nicknames out in open, I may have to invent one for you... don't know how that may bode for our frivolity. You know...
I always thought that our relationship was cool.
You played the role of having sense, I always played the fool...
And, yes, I am very familiar with the young Miss Ladyhawke. We have a happy habit here of adopting successful or favoured New Zealanders as our own, and she is no exception. After all, how could we not after the film she named herself after! Come on, Rutger Hauer, Michelle Pfeiffer and Matthew Broderick, not to mention Rumpole himself, Leo McKern (Aussie, by the way) and a young Alfred Molina pre-Doc Octopus? Classic!
By the way, Erin means nothing to me compared to you, you know that, right? It's just a physical thing, you understand? Oh, and her (only slightly earned) nickname over here is Erin McNaughty... really, I'm only a guy here.
Here's something a little more obscure for you... happy hunting!
So much blood I'm starting to drown,
Runs from cold to colder
Time to time the sky's coming down
To help me find my way
Tears and lies for answers
You and open veins, God knows I'm gone
Girl I just want you to
Come on down
Lord it's a storm and I'm heading to fall
These sins are mine and I've done wrong, oh babe
Come on down...
Long gone day
Mmm-mm Who ever said we wash away with the rain?
See you all from time to time
Isn't it so strange
How far away we all are now
Am I the only one who remembers that summer
Oh, I remember.
Every day each time the place was saved
The music that we made
The wind has carried all of that away
Long gone day
Mmm-mm Who ever said we wash away with the rain?
So many tears and I'm starting to drown
The rain in Heaven's all come down
Silver spoons affix the crown
The luckless ones are broken
Tears and lies for answers
You an open flame
God knows I'm gone
Girl I just want you to
Come on down
Lord it's a storm and I"m heading to fall
These sins are mine and I've done wrong
I want you to, Oh, I just want you to
Come on down
I fear again, like then, I've lost my way
And shout to God to bring my sunny day.
I love Iron Maiden, Jenna. That era of the british invasion had some great bands!!
Now, you got the beast from Twisted Sister, can you get this one:
Now my mind is getting dirty
Around 11:30 aha
I wanna watch some asses shakin'
To the noise the boys are makin' aha
So I hop into my car
Hit the local tittie bar aha
Cause that's my kind of situation
When I need some persperation aha
I do my one stop shopping for the girl in my dreams
Cause I can always be sure that she's as good as she seems
Take it off, take it off
Okay, I gave you the title of that one also, but, who is it?
Here is one last one as I am on my way out the door
Indestructible
Another mission, the powers have called me away
Another time to carry the colors again
My motivation, an oath I've sworn to defend
To win the honor of coming back home again
No explanation will matter after we begin
Unlock the dark destroyer that's buried within
My true vocation and now my unfortunate friend
You will discover a war you're unable to win
I'll have you know
That I've become
Indestructible
Determination that is incorruptible
From the other side, a terror to behold
Annihilation will be unavoidable
Every broken enemy will know
That their opponent had to be invincible
Take a last look around while you're alive
I'm an indestructible master of war!
Another reason, another cause for me to fight
Another fuse uncovered now, for me to light
My dedication to all that I've sworn to protect
I carry out my orders without a regret
My declaration embedded deep under my skin
A permanent reminder of how it began
No hesitation when I am commanded to strike
You need to know that you're in for the fight of your life
You will be shown
How I've become
Indestructible
Determination that is incorruptible
From the other side, a terror to behold
Annihilation will be unavoidable
Every broken enemy will know
That their opponent had to be invincible
Take a last look around while you're alive
I'm an indestructible master of war!
I'm indestructible
Determination that is incorruptible
From the other side, a terror to behold
Annihilation will be unavoidable
Every broken enemy will know
That their opponent had to be invincible
Take a last look around while you're alive
I am indestructible
Indestructible
Determination that is incorruptible
From the other side, a terror to behold
Annihilation will be unavoidable
Every broken enemy will know
That their opponent had to be invincible
Take a last look around while you're alive
I'm an indestructible master of war!
One more, J. (Celtic_Crippler put this one in my head...)
Given your geographical locale and your penchant for the mellower tunes and sweeter refrains, this may even be a touch too easy for you, but, hey I love it. You need to identify the song, band, lead singer, and, just for fun, who is the guest guitarist? Ha, didn't think I was going to leave it that simple, did you?
I could be wrong I could be right
could be wrong
I could be wrong I could be right
I could be black I could be white
I could be right I could be wrong
I could be white I could be black
Your time has come your secong skin
The cost so high the gain so low
Walk through the valley
The written word is a lie
May the road rise with you
May the road rise with you
May the road rise with you
May the road rise with you
Could be wrong I could be right
Could be wrong I could be right
I could be wrong I could be right
I could be black I could be white
I could be right I could be wrong
I could be black I could be white
They put a hot wire to my head
cos of the thing I did and said
And made these feelings go away
Model citizen in every way
May the road rise with you
May the road rise with you
May the road rise with you
May the road rise with you
Anger is an energy
Anger is an energy
Anger is an energy
Anger is an energy
May the road rise with you
May the road rise with you
May the road rise with you
May the road rise with you
Anger is an energy
Anger is an energy
Anger is an energy
Anger is an energy
Could be wrong I could be right
Could be wrong I could be right
I could be wrong I could be right
I could be black I could be white
I could be right I could be wrong
I could be black I could be white
Your time has come your second skin
The cost so high the gain so low
May the road rise with you
May the road rise with you
May the road rise with you
May the road rise with you
Could be wrong I could be right
Could be wrong
They put a hot wire to my head
Cos of the things I did and said
They made these feelings go away
A model citizen in every way
Your time has come your second skin
The cost so high the gain so low
May the road rise with you (Hey)
May the road rise with you
May the road rise with you
May the road rise with you
Anger is an energy
Anger is an energy
No, don't disappoint me, Jenna, I'll be waiting...
@Chris Parker Ah lovely Helen, I looked up your obscure lyric. Very nice. I had not heard of those peeps and had to go peek Mad Season? See I would have guessed Aussie and but I was wrong, huh. Nothing wrong with Aussie of course :) And the other one was too easy PIL and Johnny Rotten and but I do not know who played guitar?? What am I an encyclopedia? Ha :) Hey here is a great rousing choon just for you since from what they say bout you, you are a martial arts whizz ;)
“Heavyweight Champion of the World” by my lovely northern friends Reverend and the Makers :)
~~~

@just2kicku, Hey Joe haha tut tut you are a naughty boy with that lyric, know what, I do not know it?? Sounds like something that would come out of the mouth of Steven Tyler or Gene Simmons or Alice Cooper one of those uncontrollable libido boys :) Ah I am not much good at this see and you can tell me the answer and well I will not give you no more lyrics and but I only want to share with you a choon that is a fav of mine and I hope you like – lovely Melissa - I watch this over and over like a little obsessed munchkin tonight with nothing much else to amuse me, ha! I hope you like too?
[yt]V_ys3K8dhEI[/yt]

@celtic_crippler hey there, and you an American fan of the great Maiden, yay! Hey me I do not recall what your lyric is – somebody a bit more thoughtful and since I do not know what you like cept Maiden, hmm, maybe Pearl Jam or I do not believe it is Rage Against the Machine and but something like that???

~~~
@Xue Sheng
Disturbed? That is a big step from Billy Joel. I see you are eclectic with your music? :) I like that :)
Jenna, your deduction skills are second to none, It was KISS! If I never heard that, I would have never been able to deduce it down like that.
That video rocked! I don't know how to put that stuff on here or I would have.
If you like real mellow' try looking up Makaha Sons, or Iz.
Not bad, J, not bad. But you failed to name the song as well. You're going to lose points for that. "Rise" featured a guest guitar track recorded by Steve Vai (from Frank Zappa's band, Dave Lee Roths backing group post-Halen, and general "I like this guitar, but it doesn't have enough strings" wackiness). And you missed the hidden lyric in an earlier post. I'll give you one more chance to find that and regain your lost points (name and artist, please).
So is that what they say about me? Who exactly are "they"? I am flattered, though, whoever "they" are... Cool song, long been a favourite of mine (and absolutely adore Melissa Auf der Mauer as well, so I enjoyed that quite a bit too).
No, Mad Season were not Australian, they were made up of members of Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, and Screaming Trees. Jerry Cantrell was once asked how he felt watching Layne Staley on stage singing with another group, and he said it was like watching your girlfriend out on a date with another guy...
To keep with the premise of this thread, here are some lyrics from a favoured older group. You'll probably know the singer's solo work, do you know the early stuff though?
This wasn't supposed to happen,
I was happy by myself.
Accidently, you seduced me,
I'm in love again.
I lie in my bed,
Totally still,
My eyes wide open.
I'm in rapture.
I don't believe this,
I'm in love again!
This wasn't
Supposed to happen,
I've been hit
With your charm.
How could you do this
To me?
I'm in love
Again...
I lie in my bed,
Totally still,
My eyes wide open.
I'm in rapture.
I don't believe this,
I'm in love again...
This wasn't supposed to happen!
This wasn't supposed to happen!
A small story which never happened
I said ouch! This really hurts...
That can't be this has been
Practised for millions of years
Therefore we are
Yes, but I, I'm a boy.
A small story which always happens
I said ouch! This really hurts...
This could well be
But this has
Been practised for millions of years,
Therefore we are
Yes, but, you're a girl!
I lie in my bed,
Totally still,
My eyes wide open.
I'm in rapture.
I don't believe this,
I'm in love
Again...
This wasn't supposed to happen.
I lie in my bed,
Totally still,
My eyes wide open.
I'm in rapture.
(rapture)
You've put a seed inside me,
(oh)
And while you're away,
(see...)
It's growing silently,
(to be a life)
Starts in my stomach.
Embraces my insides,
(in time..)
And about to reach my heart.
This wasn't supposed to happen!
This wasn't supposed to happen!
This really hurts
Happy hunting!
@Tensei85 Hey there, goodness, I have not heard of Chinese emo, well... cool. Oh those first four chords remind me so much of something else, that is really going to bug me trying to think of what it is.. hmmmm :) Still prefer crazy Brazilians, no? :)
~~~

@JadeclouAlchemist Hey you :) And wow, a Taiwanese MC? Whatever next? Haha, hey nice one. Here is our very own Charlie Sloth and you get a free tour of my lovely borough :)

~~~
@just2kicku Hey Joe thank you for pointing me to the Makehas and big Iz:) Beach parties, ahhh, I am there :) OK so here is one that I hope does not take you too far outside your listening comfort zone. An icon of British rock: Paul Weller :) I totally love this song
~~~

@Chris Parker Ah lovely Helen ah I did not name the song it was too easy, haha :) I do not know what the hidden lyric was. See I am no good at games I think cept that one was Bjork or you mean Sugarcubes though I was a fan of neither I know the song "Birthday" because he sews a bird in her knickers which was a bit disturbing and but not as disturbing as the candystripe legs and the spider-man having me for dinner tonight :) Well here is one I want to share. This vid is from an absolutely beautiful movie from Ireland that means a lot to me called "Once" and which has some utterly enthralling music and if you have not seen the film I would recommend it every day and twice on Sundays :) Yes I am sentimental and but you forgive me for that, yes? :)

I have another one. I had not heard this one in a while and I heard it again last night.

Ever throwing at his home
Two glass houses, twenty stones
Fourteen yellow, six are blue
Could it be worse?.. Quite doubtful.

Alright, J, to set you at rest, the hidden lyric in an earlier post was:

I always thought that our relationship was cool,
You played the role of having sense, I always played the fool...

It was taken from Living Colour's sang "Love Rears Up It's Ugly Head", from the album Time's Up. Second best song on the album. The best was "Type", and that was just a solid rock song. Lyrics as follows:

Stereotype
Monotype
Blood type
Are you my type?

Minimalism
Abstract expressionism
Postmodernism
Is it?

We are the children of concrete and steel
This is the place where the truth is concealed
This is the time when the lie is revealed
Everything is possible, but nothing is real

Corporate religion
Televangahypnotism
Suffer till you die
For the sweet-bye-and-bye

Science and technology, the new mythology
Look deep inside
Empty

We are the children of concrete and steel
This is the place where the truth is concealed
This is the time when the lie is revealed
Everything is possible, but nothing is real

Everything that goes around
Comes around

Hypothetical
Theoretical
Circumstantial evidence
Irrelevance

Don't think twice

Just roll the dice
Pay the price
Snake eyes

We are the children of concrete and steel
This is the place where the truth is concealed
This is the time when the lie is revealed
Everything is possible, but nothing is real

We are the children of concrete and steel
This is the place where your fate has been sealed
This is the time when your life is revealed
Everything is possible, but nothing is real

Everything that goes around
Comes around...

But here is another favourite song by another favourite band. Time for you to show your skills, young lady.

Driven by restrained desire
I want what I need
Shacking as her sex takes hold
I've lost all control

Drowning in a sea of rage
I taste the embrace
Helpless as it steals my soul
I've lost all control

We exist in a world where the fear of
Iillusion is real
And we cling to the past to deny and confuse
The ideal
Once inside, we can conceive and believe in a god
we can't feel

Destined by a fate so cruel
And drugged to delight
Laughing as these lies unfold
I've lost all control

Temptation
It never lets me down
Temptation
One foot in the ground
Temptation
You satisfy my soul
Temptation
I've lost all control

This week, it's Queen:

Look into my eyes and you'll see
I'm the only one
You've captured my love
Stolen my heart
Changed my life
Every time you make a move
You destroy my mind
And the way you touch
I lose control and shiver deep inside
You take my breath away

You can reduce me to tears
With a single sigh
Every breath that you take -
Any sound that you make
Is a whisper in my ear
I could give up all my life for just one kiss
I would surely die
If you dismiss me from your love
You take my breath away

So please don't go
Don't leave me here all by myself
I get ever so lonely from time to time
I will find you
Anywhere you go, I'll be right behind you
Right until the ends of the earth
I'll get no sleep till I find you to tell you
That you just take my breath
away

One of the most wrenching ballads with haunting piano minor out there. Still get chills when I really sit and listen to the hearable proof that the studio is yet another instrument to be mastered.

By Kansas, "The Wall", from the Leftoverture album...

I'm woven in a fantasy
I can't believe the things I see
The path that I have chosen
Has led me to a wall
And with each passing day
I feel a little more
Like something dear was lost

It rises now before me
A dark and silent barrier between
All I am
And all that I would ever want to be
It's just a travesty
Towering
Marking off the boundaries my spirit
Would erase

To pass beyond is what I seek
I fear that I may be too weak
And those are few
Who've seen it through
To glimpse the other side
The promised land is waiting
Like a maiden
That is soon to be a bride

The moment is a masterpiece
The weight of indecision's in the air
It's standing there
The symbol and the sum of all that's me
It's just a travesty
Towering
Blocking out the light and blinding me
I want to see

Gold and diamonds cast a spell
It's not for me, I know it well
The riches that I seek
Are waiting on the other side
There's more that I can measure
In the treasure of the love that I can find

And though it's always been with me
I must tear down the wall and let it be
All I am
And all that I was ever meant to be
In harmony
Shining true and smiling back
At all who wait to cross
There is no loss

We musn't forget that old Pink Floyd Classic One Of These Days. Ok; let's see if i can remember all the lyrics....
"One of these days I'm going to cut you into little pieces!"
Sean

Chris I ain't got no skillz and your tastes are too otherworldly and esoteric for me to even hazard random guesses, haha. Oh no more lyric games - see some forum deity re-indexed my lovely thread into "games" and thereby sullied and cheapened what was a work of immense art, ha! I only wanted to share some meaning, not quiz my *** guessing words. I like the idea of a shared song. So will you just share me a song that means something and I will give you one back, yes? :) Like right now, I am in the mood to hear somebody that sounds as rankled as I feel and so I am listening to some linguistically salty goth. I need some noize see, not so much White Zombie noizy and but noizy enough to drown the herpes simplexed youths drinking at my corner here, see, like this..

They say freak,
When you're singled out,
The red, well it filters through.

So lay down, the threat is real,
When his sight goes red again.
Seeing red again,
Seeing red again.

This change, he won't contain,
Slip away, to clear your mind.
When asked, who made it show,
The truth, he gives in to most.

So lay down, the threat is real,
When his sight goes red again.

So lay down, the threat is real,
When his sight goes red again.
So lay down, the threat is real,
When his sight goes red again.

Seeing red again,
Seeing red again,
Seeing red again,
Seeing red again,
Seeing red again,
Seeing red again,
Seeing red again,
Seeing red....

They say freak...
When you're singled out.
The red, it filters through...
