Until recently, my Kukkiwon dan certificates and Kukkiwon Instructor certificate have been in my basement, in a suitcase. The owners of the dojang asked for them to display along with the other instructor's certificates. It is kind of neat to see the French Savate, Filipino Kali, Wing Chun, and Muay Thai certificates up there.
My students have never asked to see my certificates, nor has any prospective student. The certificates are documentation of my study, but so too are my (albeit seemingly fleeting) abilities after 30+yrs. My students are also documentation of my study. Hopefully, the love of the art will be passed onto them for much longer than the time my certificates hang on the wall.
