Have I ever shared my secret fishing technique... Probably not here.

It's built on simplicity. A cane pole works best. A bobber is important. Just enough weight on the line to keep the bobber from drifting too much... Find a comfortable spot on the shore. A nice tree to lean on is useful. A hat can be nice, especially if it's got enough of a brim to cover your face. Cast your line into the water. Lean back, tilt your hat down (if you wore one), and relax. If anyone tries to disturb you, whisper "I'm fishing... go away quietly."

It's very important that you not put a hook on the line; you might actually catch something and disturb your nap and chill time.

The big issue occupying our greatest minds here in the UK today seems to be the fishing industry. Hear me out here, though; it was a mistake to turn fishing into an industry in the first place. Fishing should be something to do when you don't want to do anything else, and that's becoming more important. Even in a modern technological society, from time to time a man should be given the opportunity to pit his wits against those of a fish and lose.

Have you ever watched a show called the Deadliest Catch? Crazy dangerous work!

In contrast, we have three lakes/ponds. One naturally stocked, full of bluegill, bass, and other critters. The lakes are stocked with bass and catfish respectively. I grew up literally able to throw an un-baited hook in the water and catch a fish in a matter of seconds/minutes. Cheating I know, and it ruined conventional freshwater fishing for me. I do like crappie fishing in a fast current, however.
Open saltwater fishing is Fun! Boring until you hook on, but Fun when you do.

I think I have only ever had mackerel out of the can. I doubt that counts.

Couple of years ago we went offshore bottom fishing. Took an extra spinning reel and a brand new spoon for sight casting just in case. We saw birds diving in distance so raced over, I was frantically getting that new spoon rigged up to the spinning reel while we were hauling *** there, got there just as the bait ball was descending. Cast and reeled, a big Spanish mackerel hit that spoon right up at the boat, rod bent over then straighted out. I thought he'd cut the line, but no..... I'd forgotten to take the dang rubber guard off the hook before casting. Never been so mad at myself. My buddy got to see a grown man throw a full on hissy fit that day.

If you guys want to suffer for a fish, try winter steelhead fishing. Nothing like standing in hail in the dark and 30f degrees trying to tie a line. But if you get one…..

Man, steelhead would be worth suffering for! It's a bit too strong to eat raw but dang it's good when it's not overcooked.

I forgot we used to often fish for King Mackerel in the Panhandle off the coast of Florida. Great fish grilled but never cared for it any other way.

Man, steelhead would be worth suffering for! It's a bit too strong to eat raw but dang it's good when it's not overcooked.

I would not eat Steelhead raw. I like raw fish like Hamachi and Otaru but anadromous fish aren’t great raw. You can get parasites from certain fish if it’s not frozen before eating raw. A raw piece of ling cod has so many worms it can crawl away on its own.

Waiting at the airport, flights 2 hours delayed going on 3 as they've got multiple teams trying to fix medical issues with the plane (which they initially declared inoperable). No refunds or flight changes allowed at this point since they're still continuing the flight active.

Hopefully they A) fix it and B) actually have it fixed, otherwise there's a good chance I'll end up having to drive 10 hours today.

Waiting at the airport, flights 2 hours delayed going on 3 as they've got multiple teams trying to fix medical issues with the plane (which they initially declared inoperable). No refunds or flight changes allowed at this point since they're still continuing the flight active.

Hopefully they A) fix it and B) actually have it fixed, otherwise there's a good chance I'll end up having to drive 10 hours today.

Been there done that, and even when they said they fixed it, we boarded, they started the plane……and… the entire plane shut down….that happened a few more times…. Then they cane on to fix the issue, and we still couldn’t take off…. Ground crew forgot us…. Had to wait for them to take the boarding ramp away. I was afraid of the power going out that entire flight. Luckily it was only a 50 minute flight

I'm beginning to think I just should never fly anymore. That stinks. My wife was flying home from AZ last week. She got to the airport and noticed there was a flight leaving an hour earlier. They got her on and she even got an aisle seat. The plane had a mechanical issue. Took an hour to fix it and then right as they were leaving, there was a medical emergency (a person passed out). She ended up being okay, but the flight ended up landing two hours after the one she was originally booked on. You just have to be zen when you fly. I figure as long as I get where I'm going safely, it's a win.

Took them 6 hours to officially cancel the flight. Luckily pretty much right after that last post I scheduled another flight, which will leave in about an hour and a half assuming no delays. Had to do a different airport though since it was so last minute. If everything works out properly, I will be getting to my parents 9-9:30PM.

I was supposed to arrive at pretty much noon. Whole day wasted, I'm exhausted and I know when I arrive I'll be bombarded with family who are staying with my parents for the funeral.
