I was chatting with someone on the plane back from Pheonix over the weekend. He was down there playing in a water polo tournament. I played water polo as a segment of a year long PE swimming class in high school, which was over 40 years ago. That was pretty brutal. :)

In related news, do you have a retirement date yet? I'm counting on you to retire before me, so I can pretend I'm not as old as I look! :D

Could be May this year, but more likely between May 2026 and April 2027.

We're neck in neck.

I'm eligible, but still like my job, so I think will probably stick it out for at least another year or two. It's nice having options.

I think we'll end up staying in this area, at least as long as the kids are here, but might snowbird to Sun City or someplace like that. The idea of 70F Winters is pretty appealing.

My mom just turned 80 and my dad's 90. They're both in good health and are still sharp. I hope I'm as active and mentally fit as they are when I get to their age. And I have to say, that retirement lifestyle is pretty nice in the Phoenix area. I thoroughly enjoy visiting them, toodling around on the golf cart and dipping in the hot tub or pool at least once per day.

Kids; 1 in Virginia, moving to Philadelphia this year. Another in NYS should be heading to New England in a couple years. And if things go as planned I should be heading back to New England when I retire. I like NH and Me.

My mother just went into a Nursing home at 93 and not doing great. She was not doing to bad,, living on her own, she was suffering with back pain, but then ended up with Pneumonia, the Flu and a UTI all at the same time, she got though that, but it took a lot out of her and after that she had to go to rehab and now a nursing home. If I go to New England I will have to figure out how to move her... but I will cross that bridge when I get to it

My body is a wreck, but my biggest fear is to slip mentally. It doesn't run in my family perse' but both my parents died relatively young from cancer.

Dagnabit! You've got me realizing that now!

Why don't you stick to picking on trees, instead of innocent old men...

We tend to maintain our mental acuity pretty much up til the end. My grandparents on both sides were sharp right up until they died. But cancer runs in my family. If we don’t get that, we tend to live into our 90s.

Regardless, it’s a good reminder to enjoy the time we have.

I have retired for 21 years and 3 months now. It's the best part of my life. Today I did 2,000 punches and only 40 kicks along with my 4 miles walking/training on the beach. I try to do less kicks to protect my knees. When I did my 10 punches combo:

1. right jab,
2. left cross,
3. right hook,
4. left hook,
5. right uppercut,
6. left uppercut,
7. right overhand,
8. right back fist,
9. left overhand,
10. left back fist.

I truly didn't know which MA style that I was training, and I didn't care. I did try to coordinate each and every punch with my foot landing, 10 punches with 10 steps.

Trying to find some training that we enjoy of doing through our retirement age is important.
