Knee update
8 minutes reclining bike
48 full revolutions' forward
40 full revolutions backward

And I know this does not sound like much
Took a couple steps down stairs..... normally. First time time in almost a year
And I have been working on a half squat deadlift.
Started at 10 pounds, went to 16 pounds, then 20 pounds and I was able to do 25 pounds today. A long way from the 150lbs I use to do alone in my basement before all this knee/hip/arthritis stuff, but it is a start

And today, the knee has swollen up. But this is not the first time so...
I totally sympathize with you. I'm in the early stages of treatment starting out with x-rays and a cortisone shot with a (1) month return visit. You are where I'm heading so your updates for me are good....... I think!! :)

No to people heal the same. I have heard form those that in 2 weeks were pretty much back to normal, some it took 6 months and some never were. I can tell you I'm not of the 2 week variety, since this I am in week 12. Btit is getting better, just painfully (sometimes literally painfully) slow. I am hoping I am of the 6 month variety or less.

I was also told getting an uninterrupted, by the knee, nights sleep was a 10 tp 18 week wait. I can tell you it was not 10 weeks for me, but it's getting closer in the 12th week.

I also did this as outpatient surgery since it was offered..... I can tell you, I will not do that next time if I do actually get the left done. I will be inpatient all the way

wi
I see an error in my above post "no to people", should have been "no two people"
with you, either can be correct, especially taken out of context

the church lady our scot troop was chartered out of had a bad time with her knee replacement.
It took a LONG time, many months.

I suppose technically I was inpatient but it was only for one night. It was mainly to monitor for infection in my case since I had a history of infection with the plate removal.
They had me up and walking 2-3 hours after I was in my room. But I was still so loopy I really did not feel that first walk. It was the 2nd and 3rd walk that was 'fun'. But for me getting the drugs out of my system so I had a modicum of balance helped a lot.

That was inpatient. I went in the morning and went home in the afternoon. Never do that again

Knee

@Buka Thanks for the heat before and ice afterwards. Did the heat before today and in 40 seconds on the bike I was able to do the full 360 going backwards and a bit over a minute I was going full 360 forward, 80 full revolutions forward, 120 full revolutions going backward.

I was also concerned about the swelling I had today in my office, so I looked into how long this is supposed to go on. I found it can take up to 3 months for the pain and swelling to settle down. It will be 3 months this Friday. But then there is this bit, "It can take up to a year for any leg swelling to disappear."

So, things are getting better, but slowly

Reminds me of the menu at my favorite Chinese restaurant, next to the lunch specials: "No soup for togo." I always wondered who togo is and why he doesn't get any soup?
Maybe they meant toga, and it is more dress code policies. A very specific policy.

No shirt.
No shoes.
No toga.
No entry!
