Chin Na

In addition to what has been mentioned about joint locks, the Chin na taught in our system also encompasses pressure points and throws.

Yup....
Pressure Points is the common western term for what the Chinese systems call "Cavity Presses" or some others call "Nerve Activations".
Also: Those throws can't be denied!!
Good stuff.

Can you give me an example of a "Cavity Press"?

hmmm....
how familiar are you with TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) or at least Chi/Merridian theory??

A passing familiarity but I do have a good understanding of human physiology and how the body reacts to certain stimuli.

Cool.
OK.... take for instance the location of Pericardium Three (PC-3) FOUND HERE
If it were struck, many Traditional Chinese systems would call that a "Cavity Strike", if on the other hand it were grabbed and pinched...it would be considered a 'Cavity Press'. I'm speaking here in the nomenclature of people like Master Yang Jwing Ming.... who has GREAT books and videos on Chin-Na. He calls such techniques "Cavity" striking or pressing.

Does that answer your question?
It IS an interesting field of study.
