In the following video the Guy is able to get tough enough to break a board and porcelain tile. at around 8 minutes into video he succeeds in breaking both. BUT, note that he breaking the board against the grain, not with it. Also, the board breaks evenly straight across the board as if mostly cut by a saw. I have broken many a pine board in my life (not as a martial artist but as a handyman) none of them broke straight as a ruler. And many shattered instead of a clean break in any direction. Especially across the grain. I also broke a few porcelain items and lots of terra cotta items. Especially there was a danger of slivers with the porcelain similar to glass. I never saw a straight line break unless it was scored first.
