2 on 1 Sparring

I'd rather rely on my training than your theory about instinct. In my observations of instinct, people turtle up and stand still. They don't keep their footwork and guard together.

And I'd love to see footage of an untrained man faring as well in such a situation. To back up your point about training and instinct.

This guy is apparently a trained boxer from Turkey, by the way.

Theory??....We have already established that the first impression for fighting multiple attackers, in the confines of "training" is/was instinctive. (sgtmac_46)

Training is always good, if you don't have an instinctive attitude for fighting/combat. I will agree that some folks have to be taught this element, but we weren't discussing that aspect.

In my estimation, we just saw it!, Even though you contend that this guy is/was a trained boxer in Turkey. I just don't see any real training showing up. Review the beginning seconds again and take notice of him just wildly swinging. It's highly doubtful that any true trained boxer is going to resort to that tactic. The training I'm looking for is that of a martial artist that has the capabilities to use more than one technique/element for self defense, for this was the focal point of the discussion in the first place.

I'll pose another subjective observation on this guy. If in fact he was a trained boxer, he stinks. None of the punches thrown apparently had any effect on the individual attackers. Some of the boxers I've observed, even at just above beginning stages could plant a heavy hand on folks that didn't know how to cover up, as these attackers did. A decent boxer should have laid at least 2 of those guys out with a clean right cross and as we've seen, that didn't happen.

What you don't see is what you assume you would see, not what in reality you would see. That illustrates the difference betweens assumptions and reality.

I think I've just identified another exercise in futility. So we'll agree to disagree.

Beat me to the punch.............:bangahead:

Or it could just be......"What the meaning of is is".....

I've seen this video before, but it's been a long time. This guy is definitely trained, an untrained person would not keep their guard up like that. He's timing is also excellent, you don't get that just by nature.

At least, he's been involved in many street fights to say the least.
