WTF renames Poomsae!

Since the correct romanization for the Kukkiwon/WTF forms is Pumsae and not Poomsae, the WTF decided to change the official writing to Pumsae. The WTF member-notice says it's also because most Europeans would not pronounce oo as u, but as o.

What do you guys think?

I think this is fiddling while Rome burns. The WTF has bigger issues to deal with if they want to stay in the Olympics, nevermind get forms in there. Is this an April Fool's joke? It sounds like one...

I call bull! Or at least an April Fool's Joke.

The WTF official site has no such announcement, the letterhead has blurry text in the header and the official WTF site also has an official page on poomsae and they haven't renamed it.

It would certainly take a good amount of time to change everything in the site and their documents. But I think it would be a good thing for them to do.

Happy April Fools Day.
For one thing, the folks at the WTF do not determine how hangul is Romanized.

Indeed, don't trust any news that are published in April 1st. Especially when they're hosted on my server. ;-)

Yes and no...

There was an article in the WTF Magazine about Taekwondo should be romanised (and how we should use the term Taekwondoin rather than Taekwondoists or Taekwondoka):

Also, there was an article in a Kukkiwon magazine about how Poomse should now be called Poomsae (although they consulted the Hangul Society):

So there has been prior evidence of the WTF and/or Kukkiwon renaming terms or clarifying/changing romanisation, however, in this case it had no other evidence to support it...

Cheers,

Andy

The point I was addressing was that the WTF could change how words are Romanized. They cannot. They can make all the suggestions they want, but it's not their decision. :)
