Hi folks!
the quote at the bottom section of the main page for martial talk is incorrect and credited to the wrong person...
the actual quote should read...
"The journey of ten thousand miles begins with the first step"
It is credited to Lao Tzu,founder of Taoism
The "ten thousand" is a reference to infinity.
Hope that I was of some service,
KENPOJOE

This is what I find in John Bartlett's quote collection ... www.bartleby.com

As it is listed as a 'Proverb', who knows from whom it originated?

Which, of course, can be confirmed in this other 'Chinese Proverb'.

hmm... I find several references to it, as well as a few variations.
Lemme do some research...

I appreciate the info though... anyone else confirm or offer another point?

Thank you! :)

I think there are many variations of the same quote and as such the quote of
"The journey of ten thousand miles begins with the first step" ma come from a differnt place than A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.

There is also every journey begins with a single step. Maybe that comes from a bad translation?

There are to many quotes about "every journey."
