OH YEAH!! I love Running Wild to get pumped up!

I move as fast as I can
I like to get around
I'm crazy like a madman
My feet don't touch the ground
I move amongst the nightlite
I'll make you step aside
Cause when they see me comin'
They know I'm a runnin' wild

What memories that brings up, bonfires in the mountains and drinking beer with friends (even tho we were still in high school) good times
Oh man, I am there :) Oh see what you have done... you have put me in mind for hairy boys, ha! OK, I wonder can you name this choon without looking?? :D

Friday night they'll be dressed to kill
Down at Dino's bar and grill
The drink will flow and blood will spill
And if the boys want to fight, you'd better let them
Hey I am gonna pimp some slightly more modern Brit rock on yall ears. Have a listen to The Music from a year or two ago. These boys can kick it up rightly. I hope you likey... lyrically: meh... musically: woohoo :)

I know that there are those who feel Iron Maiden has slipped in later years and doesn't put out the same quality of music that they once did. But one of my favorites is from a more recent album, Dance of Death. The song is called Paschendale, and tells the story of a dying soldier on that World War I battlefield. Paschendale was the site of some horrific fighting, and one of the worst nightmare places to be during that war. It gives me chills up my spine, and actually brings up emtions in me like few songs can.

PASCHENDALE

In a foreign field he lay
lonely soldier unknown grave
on his dying words he prays
tell the world of Paschendale

Relive all that he's been through
last communion of his soul
rust your bullets with his tears
let me tell you 'bout his years

Laying low in a blood filled trench
killing time 'til my very own death
on my face I can feel the falling rain
never see my friends again
in the smoke in the mud and lead
the smell of fear and the feeling of dread
soon be time to go over the wall
rapid fire and the end of us all

Whistles, shouts and more gun-fire
lifeless bodies hang on barbed wire
battlefield nothing but a bloody tomb
be reunited with my dead friends soon
many soldiers eighteen years
drowned in mud, no more tears
surely a war no one can win
killing time about to begin

Home, far away. From the war, a chance to live again
Home, far away. But the war, no chance to live again

The bodies of ours and our foes
the sea of death it overflows
in no-man's land God only knows
into jaws of death we go...

Crucified as if on a cross
allied troops, they mourn their loss
German war propaganda machine
such before has never been seen
swear I heard the angels cry
pray to God no more may die
so that people know the truth
tell the tale of Paschendale

Cruelty has a human heart
every man does play his part
terror of the men we kill
the human heart is hungry still

I stand my ground for the very last time
gun is ready as I stand in line
nervous wait for the whistle to blow
rush of blood and over we go...

Blood is falling like the rain
its crimson cloak unveils again
the sound of guns can't hide their shame
and so we die in Paschendale

Dodging shrapnel and barbed wire
running straight at canon fire
running blind as I hold my breath
say a prayer symphony of death
as we charge the enemy lines
a burst of fire and we go down
I choke I cry but no one hears
feel the blood go down my throat

Home, far away. From the war, a chance to live again
Home, far away. But the war, no chance to live again
Home, far away. From the war, a chance to live again
Home, far away. But the war, no chance to live again

See my spirit on the wind
across the lines beyond the hill
friend and foe will meet again
those who died at Paschendale

If I need a song to decompress to, it's "Under Pressure", by Queen and David Bowie

When I think of this I am dragged back to Wilfred Owen and Siegfried Sassoon! And but you are absolutely right about the horror of WWI. Trust the Maiden to go all epic on it! Thank you my friend for posting this up :)

Hey here is one for you that I bet you have never heard. I do not believe Marillion ever made it big in the US. Nonetheless, a great band from way way back.
= Marillion "Childhood's End"
You, the child that once loved,
The child before they broke his heart.
The heart; the heart that I believed was lost.
So it's me I see; I can do anything.
I'm still the child.
'Cos the only thing misplaced was direction, and I found direction.
There is no childhood's end
There is no childhood's end...

I am not a big fan of this musician but I heard this song on the radio on the way into work this morning and it hit a chord (no pun intended) with me today

How bout getting off of these antibiotics
How bout stopping eating when I'm full up
How bout them transparent dangling carrots
How bout that ever elusive kudo

Thank you India
Thank you terror
Thank you disillusionment
Thank you frailty
Thank you consequence
Thank you thank you silence

How bout me not blaming you for everything
How bout me enjoying the moment for once
How bout how good it feels to finally forgive you
How bout grieving it all one at a time

Thank you India
Thank you terror
Thank you disillusionment
Thank you frailty
Thank you consequence
Thank you thank you silence

The moment I let go of it was
The moment I got more than I could handle
The moment I jumped off of it was
The moment I touched down

How bout no longer being masochistic
How bout remembering your divinity
How bout unabashedly bawling your eyes out
How bout not equating death with stopping

Thank you India
Thank you providence
Thank you disillusionment
Thank you nothingness
Thank you clarity
Thank you thank you silence

The voice can set one's teeth at edge, agreed, and but it is difficult to put down the lyric I think. And I think to find a song that connects like a cog with our mood is one of the greatest comforts or pleasures we can afford ourselves :) I hope it served you, XS.

Just because it is a damn fine song and because the video has some damn fine machinery (and no, I do not mean Angelina's airbag lips, pffft) This is a real round and round and round and round song for me sometimes. Like this evening :)

The Cult "Painted On My Heart"
I thought you'd be out of my mind
And I'd finally found a way to learn to live without you
I thought it was just a matter of time
Till I had a hundred reasons not to think about you

But it's just not so
And after all this time, I still can't let go

I've still got your face
Painted on my heart
Scrawled upon my soul
Etched upon my memory, baby

Aww, Queen Adreena - Cold Fish. A pretty little song that I now use for double time jump rope intervals, ha! :) Also makes for a perfect punchbag ditty :) No vid, just music per the long-reaching arms of the Youtube Gestapo

How about the Good ol' VU. "If you close the door, the night could last forever. Leave the sunshine out... and say hello to never. All the people we meet and they're having such fun. I wish it could happen to me"

Hey J.

Might just be the mood I'm in right now, but the following are kind of mingling in my head. For some reason, they just seem to go together.

Show me show me show me
How you do that trick
The one that makes me scream, she said,
The one that makes me laugh, she said,
And threw her arms around my neck

Show me how you do it,
And I promise that I'll run away with you
I'll run away with you.

Just Like Heaven - The Cure

And now I wake up happy
Warm in a lover's embrace...

Message to My Girl - Split Enz

I always wished I'd written the latter one. Both idolised and demonised Neil Finn for that, writing the song I wish I had, finding the words that I couldn't. Oh, well, mine is still to come...

"he Went to fight wars, for his country and king, for his honor and his glory the people would sing" let's see who knows this:wavey:

Split Enz?? That is a new one to me so thank you for posting that :) I had to go look them up. And there is nothing to stop you writing better. After all, what is a song but notes on a stave and words well connected :) I do absolutely adore The Cure and but I am not sure bout Just Like Heaven - I think that was a little too commercial maybe? Still, there were plenty of good songs on that LP: Shiver and Shake is one of my ultimo fav "angry" songs when I feel like I need to hit something :) Lyrically, Strange Day always gives me chills :)

My head falls back and the walls crash down
And the sky, and the impossible explode
Held for one moment I remember a song:
An impression of sound
And then everything is gone...
Forever

Not without looking it up! Dylan? No, too uncomplex for Dylan. More musical, less folky probably. The "King" suggests British and maybe not US?? Ha! I have no clue except guesses :) I can look it up but that is no fun :) Another clue needed!! :)

Hey ackks10, that is a hard clue. White lace and feathers, goodness. It must be late 60s? Prog, hippie stuff? I could only guess Genesis or Yes would be all I would know? Maybe if you hum it I will see if I know it, ha! :D Nope, I give up :(
