I dont know whether you guys are aware, but black belt magazine are offering a place in the International Hall of Honours. It would be great if you could vote for my master Kevin Chan (and hopefully it would give wing chun a little more respect in the martial art community)

There are other chun masters on there, but i'll leave the decision up to you guys

OK, I just checked it out and I recognized a couple of names: Kevin Chan, Samuel Kwok, Chris Crudelli... Looks like a UK oriented organization. Right now it lists Samuel Kwock leading 137 votes to Kevin Chan's still respectable 51 votes. What do they get if they win? Does anybody pay any attention to these things? And what's in it for us? Over here in the States at least, we expect some ridiculously expensive campaigning, nasty 10-second sound-bytes trashing the opponents, and a barrel-full of absurd campaign promises and even outright lies from both sides.

Failing that, could you tell us a bit about your instructor?

Well I am told that all the individuals on the list are gathered together to fight the evil Emperor Shao Kahn whilst first battling a multi armed creature named Gorro

It has begun.............

As for my instructor, Kevin Chan, the guy is an extremely complete martial artist. Learning several styles from his uncle (Tam Fut) when he was just a little kid, he started learning wing chun at the age of 18. He developed his martial arts skill to involve boxing, muay thai and wrestling, before finding a passion for BJJ. However, he has always claimed his first art to be wing chun, which is scary considering how good he is at everything else. He attained a black belt in BJJ two years ago and has also acheived many awards previous. He has the Ip Man life membership and continues to be an advocate of wing chun even to mixed martial artists who train with/under him

He is a fairly humble guy, talking to anyone who walks through his door (rather than other instructors who will insist on no communication with beginners until they reach a certain level)

He was previously interviewed by Geoff Thompson http://www.kamonwingchun.com/Interview1.aspx

I voted for Kevin.

Will add to Kamon guys post that Kevin is a really nice guy, very approachable and a very talented martial artist. (I realise all the guys on the list are, but you have to have a favourite!!)

Look forward to the battle with Gorro, do you think it will be on pay per view on Sky? what do you think a good strategy would be? Name calling? to wear him down? then flicking elastic bands??

Well actually there are quite a few guys on that list who are ectremely unapproachable. In the interests of fairness I wont name names, but Ive been to seminars and events where they wouldnt speak to anyone except advanced students/instructors.

I just find Kevin Chan easy to understand, no BS and very approachable
